Title: Microphonics
Post by: JDeSanto on January 14, 2023, 08:34:45 PM
How microphonic should a Nantucket p90 neck and a Flat 50 bridge be?  My Novo Serus T is putting out a really high harmonic that takes over the note or chord as they ring out.  I am trying to track down mechanically what is causing the ringing but I think if these were slightly less microphonic it wouldn't be o bad.  the Nantucket in particular is very loud when tapping the cover with a pick.  Just checking to see what is normal and if I have a problem with pickups or something else on the guitar.

Both of those pickups should be thoroughly wax-potted, which should give them a lot of resilience against microphonics. If you're noticing the same resonant frequency on both pickups, then it certainly could be something else on the guitar vibrating (prime suspects would be strings ringing out behind the nut or behind the bridge on a tune-o-matic, loose pots, loose pickguards with shielding on them), but the tapping noise, if that is particularly prominent, would certainly suggest that the pickups could benefit from re-potting. If that's something that you'd like done, drop an email to sales@bareknucklepickups.co.uk and one of us will help you out with getting them back to us.
