hi, I am about to build my first scratch build guitar, a 12 string semi hollow telecaster and I've been looking at BKP old guards the P90 set, do you think this would be a good choice? I'm not looking for a particularly high output and they are a good price as well
any suggestions will be welcome,
regards,
Ben.

Hi Ben, assuming that the guitar is going to be a traditional Tele scale length, then yes, they could work out great! I personally love Alnico 2 recipes in 25.5" guitars as they play very nicely with the more edgy grind in the mids of a Fender scale. The lower output and magnetic strength will also give some more headroom for the 12 string jangle to really have some space to move and should result in some really nice shimmering highs.
The Old Guards are fitted into several guitars that I can think of that have a similar build to what you're describing, particularly coming to mind is the PJD Carey, which I have played in chambered P90 form with Old Guards and the balance and articulation was excellent!

thanks tim, yes it's a 25 1/2" scale length, I am making it for myself and love P90 pickups, if I get the old guards I'l make sure to post some sound clips once it's finished.
