One of my new year's resolutions was to work out some practice routines and start doing at least 20 minutes a day with a metronome. It's actually starting to pay off but I'm getting fed up of having to fire up my valve amp and computer just for this. Do any of you know of a small practice amp with a built in metronome - I'm thinking really small like one of those smokey amps you can put in your pocket. It would only have to amplify the signal just a bit louder than unplugged and it would have to be cheap as this is the only thing I'd use it for.

I apologise in advance if this seems trite but why not buy a cheap metronome and a Smoky?

This is probably the route I'll go anyway. I was just wondering if such a thing exists - so that it's ultra convenient. If it doesn't exist someone should invent something. I'm aware of the GDEC but that's far too expensive for what I need.

dunno of anything like that with an in-built metronome...

but yer the smokey amp + metronome would be a good option...

the smokey amps are so fun lol, i got one a while ago... so cool to mess around with... also i think its possible to use it as a fuzz-box kinda thing with some amps but it reacts really differently with certain amps... for example... it sounds pretty cool through my mates AVT but through my crate it makes me want to cry...

Fender GDec. Not only metronome, but even complete midi backings inside.

Another possibility which I like is use the computer and sonmething like Guitar Rig, Amplitube etc, then you can do it all in virtual.

Oh yeah I vote for the Mini 57 Twin (as if that matters) ;)

My son has the Danelectro Honeytone and it's great fun, and trundles in sub 30 quid (it can get quite loud).

Marshall also do mini amps and allegedly the guitar parts of the Blur track Song 2 where recorded on one.

Theres pleanty of cheap metronomes about, a friend recorded click tracks onto his mini disc (from his PC), and uses that, via his practice amp instead of buying a metronome.
