Hey folks,
I have a Fender Mexican Deluxe Thinline Telecaster - beautiful guitar and lovely to play. I'd like to try swapping in some Bare Knuckle pickups for the current Fender Noiseless, as I'm finding them a little lifeless.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to opt for a BG Flat '50 in the neck. I'm a bit torn between having the same for the bridge or opting for the brown sugar. I'd like more output on that bridge for lead work, and I want something that cuts through a band mix. But I'm a bit concerned that it'll be too shrill.
Just wondered if anyone had experience with a thinline and the brown sugar.
My tele is alder body and maple neck by the way (not forgetting the f hole!)
Thanks everyone.

Hi! I'm sorry that it looks like you didn't get an answer from the community on this - the Brown Sugar certainly isn't shrill, but you will find it to be a little more focused in the midrange and highs in comparison to something a little fuller like the matching Flat '50 bridge.
Ultimately, I would say that all of our traditional tele bridges will have a good amount of depth and chunk for a variety of applications, as they all utilise a large metal baseplate on the bottom of the pickup which really helps to improve low frequency extension.

I'm probably going to try a Brown Sugar if I get a Tele again, but FWIW, I thought along the same lines with a standard MIM Tele a few years back. As a result, I purchased The Boss, which has a nice chunk to it, while still maintaining an over Tele vibe. Not a vintage vibe, but still sounded like a Tele.
