so i have a prs 24 standard 24 which i love the feel of except for the sound its bright and when i do leads it sounds thin.
i had the painkiller in the prs and i liked it for a while but the smae problems rose again, it was much better for my esp explorer.
i loved those pickups in my friend's mahogany charvels and jacksons, so i think of getting one of them for my prs (nailbomb could either be alnico or ceramic, i dont really know).
which pickup should i choose? also i dont care about combining pickups from diffrent sets
i play mostly 80s metal and 80s thrash (90s too if its megadeth or testament nad sepultura) , some machine head and pantera and lamb of god, nightwish, children of bodom, speed metal, opeth.

Timely question! I've just swapped from PRS HFS/VB to RY to ceramic NB in my 2005 standard 24.
However, it sounds like we did it for different reasons. I found the PRS pickups to be too mushy and undefined with overpowering low end. There also wasn't much attack. I play similar stuff to what you list.
I tried the RY set first as I've found it's got less low end so it seemed like a good fit. They were much better than the PRS, but I had the same problem as I've often found with the RY bridge - it's too polite for me. I had the same with a RY in a Les Paul Custom. I really like it in a neck through Jackson however. The RY neck is great in the PRS though. Does just what I want with a defined, yet round tone. That's staying.
So, I put the ceramic nail bomb in and I think that's it. It's got the attack, the definition and note separation that I was look for and the low end is under control.
