Hi there,
long time bare knuckle user. i have my hit and miss(es) (the BOSS) with this brand but thank god the ratio is towards hits.
I have my mood swings, but the riff raff never disappoints!
nomad vs. Flat 50:
one has A3 the other A5. One a copper plated steel baseplate the other a zink plated one.
Same thickness? Both AWG43 probably AWG43 and similiar turn count i guess, looking at the DCR.
...
Anyway, i am interested what the sonic differences are!

Sorry to see you didn't get any replies yet on this one -
Yes, the wire gauges and the baseplate thickness on the Nomads and Flat '50 are the same - the wind is slightly adjusted but the main difference is certainly those magnets. Alnico 3 has much less power than Alnico 5, leading to softer attack characteristics in the Nomads, as well as less push in the highs too. These characteristics combine to make the Nomads quite a bit rounder and smoother than the Flat '50, with the feeling of a little bit of "sag" on the attack.

Thank you very much for the reply!
Well i guess i would prefer the flat50 bridge to the nomad bridge then.
But the Nomad neck description is like somebody read my mind!

I’m curious as to why you were not onboard with the Boss? I had it in a Roadworn Tele that I no longer have. Enjoyed it with a Plexi type circuit.

i can see it working great with a plexi circuit or marshall in general.
i mostly play my diezels and i think the Bosses EQ and the Amps voicing didn't work out together.
I tried the Boss in 2 different guitars (one very bright and rather skinny) but stilll was kind of muddy.
Too much lows (and low mids?) pre distortion i guess. Makes for a horrible distortion characteristics which i only can describe as having a foghorn quality.
I have this happend with other PUs, too and the RiffRaffs are the complete opposite in this matter. Maybe not the most beautiful sounding EQ curve on those, but they feel so good and do exactly what i want them to do. Also i like them for everything! from clean to highgain.
High mid prominent Pickups are kind of grating to the ears, but they have the clear and cutting nature i seem to prefer for distorted sounds.
