If you want convenience, then iTunes.

If you're after absolute sound quality, Sound Forge.

After that, you're into multi-thousand dollar mastering software solutions.

Can you play music on VLC?

It might be an easy solution for everything, because I always use it when Quicktime or WMP or whatever doesn't have the right codec for a video.

Musicmatch Jukebox is the best one for me..
rips, tags, librarysearches etc.. works great.

I know some people who like foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/).  Personally, I've used WinAmp since version 1.0 and it still does the job for me.

Just out of interest, why are you getting fed up with WinAmp?

Winamp all the way here too. Nothing else seems as verastile or intuitive.
It can get a bit irritating occasionaly, syncing the media library at exactly the wrong time.

is there a way to get iTunes to seperate your music into artist pages? like a page of zeppelin, a page of mule, etc. It sucks having to scroll to the right play - i have SO much music, i can never scroll to where i want to be...

Ctrl + B opens up the browser which makes it easier to find your songs than scrolling through.

I really like i-tunes.

In combination with a pod of i-ness, it's the mutt's nuts.

IMHO.
