Well JP, I had heard that it was a beautiful city and it was indeed. Lots of pretty little quaint old streets, elegant buildings and a great ambiance. The best thing from the point of view of someone from the UK
( and "Western" countried generally) is that food and drink are cheap and by this I mean 80p a pint ( £2.50 to £3.50 here) and you can get a good 3 course meal for about £6.00 per head. Tons of history and best of all friendly people. It reminded me of the pre EU days of certain European countries before they became clones of each other when countries had their own identity and character. They are members of the EU though so I suspect that they will become assimilated. They will be getting the Euro in 2009 apparently so expect things to change greatly unless the Euro comes to grief in the meantime. I would definately recommend it and Mrs 38th & I intend to go back. As for pics, Mrs 38th gave her camera a hammering- if I can work out how to reduce the size of the files I will post something.

38th, for the pics, an easy way to resize is to open them up in ms paint, press ctrl+w, then lower the percentage of the horizontal/vertical to 50% to make it half size, etc  :)
