This is a follow-up on an old thread. Interesting to know what everybody is listening to. Maybe someone got some new inspiration or discovered some band.
Currently I'm listening too Lee Rocker - Burning Love
(http://www.pollytone.com/images/hyp4230.jpg)
An album full of rockabilly old and new, blues, rock n' roll and rhythm n' blues. (Not what is now known as RNB). A very diverse album of excellent quality. I've playing this record for a couple of months now, almost every day and it still hasn't bored me.

Banyan, playing 'Maggot Brain' live. Obviously, this isn't the Eddie Hazel version, but Eddie Hazel is such an underrated guitarist. I think it's a shame that no-one seems to remember some of the great things he has done/was part of.
-
At the moment, these 3 are in heavy rotation:

I only heard one song, but I downloaded the Rebel Meets Rebel cd. Rebel Meets Rebel is the band made up of Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul, Rex Brown and country singer David Allan Coe. The 1st song is pretty good.
David Allan Coe has one of those you like his voice or hate it.
Not sure if the whole cd is good, but figured I mention it if anyone was interested. .....chris

LOL
Just checked this ^ out on iTunes, got some store credit and think this is a purchase :) Too funny/cool.
-
I had the Van Halen Live Without a Net DVD on earlier. 8)
I love how much energy the guys had! People just don't perform like that any more. These days they mostly just stand there and look serious.
-
Muddy Waters, Opeth, Quincy Jones and John Mayall.
10,000 Days is a beast of an album btw
-
I've been listening to alot of Kiko Loureiro's solo stuff.
Vinnie Moore
Paul Gilbert
Tony Macalpine.
I need to get back into my Jazz and Blues music again :D
-
Just got "Rebel Meets Rebel".
Now, although have lived in Texas for just over 6 years now (and been travelling here longer) I am NOT a Country Music fan.
However, this is just "right" somehow!
Coe is a Rebel and paired with Dime/Vinnie/Rex it just works.
Also, it's great to hear some new Daryll riffs R.I.P.

and
(http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000EULJLU.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg)
which I have to say is another top Tool album, some of the riffs are just great; plus, I really like the new, dirgey style of song (i.e. Wings Part 1 & 2), even though they've come in for some criticism of it.
-
Sucioperro: (http://www.myspace.com/sucioperro) Ayrshire 4 piece, intelligent danceable rock.
Death Cab for Cutie: (http://www.myspace.com/deathcabforcutie) An amazing band, solid pop tunes and a huge infulence on my own songwriting.
The Cat Empire: (http://www.myspace.com/thecatempire) Latin/Jazz/Ska, no guitar player, but this Aussie band make me dance like no-ones watching, which isn't usually the case...
-
Def Leppard, Van Halen, Cutting Crew, Racer X, Cyndi Lauper, Bon Jovi...
BRING BACK THE 80s!

LOL, glad to hear your enjoying it.
I'll give the whole cd a listen tonight..I heard that one song Dimebag's guitar is made to sound like a fiddle or something like that...too funny...
-
Thats the title track, sounds fiddleish LOL
Rex has REAL heavy beat going on!
Get Outta My Life is nice and HEAVYYYYYYY!
Just works. With a grin. Kinda reminds me of Hayseed Dixie in the "grin it's so weird but works" kinda way.
-
Not sure if there are any hardcore listeners here but these are some bands I always have on hand.
Murphy's Law
Madball
Hatebreed
H2O
Indecision
Agnostic Front
Strife
-
The Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album, Stadium Arcadium.
Hoorah!
-
The Finn Brothers- Everyone is Here, The Faces -a Nods as Good as a Wink, Bob Dylan- Freewheelin'- a bit of a retro mood
-
Def Leppard, Van Halen, Cutting Crew, Racer X, Cyndi Lauper, Bon Jovi...
BRING BACK THE 80s!
I agree, apart from cutting crew!
-
What? ... The 80s are over?
Danger Danger - Screw it
Master of Puppets...
I've bought a $hit load of CDs since breaking my leg and I've gone down replacing some of my old faves from tape..
The first Winger album / Killer Dwarfs "Big Deal" / Faster Pussycat / Whitesnake "Slide it in" US version with John Sykes. (I've got Bad Boy live & Galactic Cowboy on the way so Sykes overload is due)
Of the new stuff Stadium Arcadium & Operation Mindcrime II don't have much of a chance as I've fallen in love with the new Satriani CD... his best since The Extremist.
I'm also looking forward to Metallica "Live $hit, Binge and purge" which should be here at the weekend. :P
-

* The Futureheads - debut lp
* Lamb Of God - new american gospel
* Mad Season - above

How young are you exactly? You have an awesome taste in music there, brother. I was born in the 80's...JUST! You can take the man out the 80's but you can't take the 80's out the man.
-
I am a huge Tool fan, and i absolutely hate 10,000 days. I think its so poor. Ive been waiting for 5 years for this album and it doesnt come close to their previous work at all. Im the only one out of my friends who doesnt like the album and they hate me going through the album, and the reasons I hate it so Ill spare you all the fun....
Ive been listening to :
Necrophagist - Epitaph
Beneath the Massacre - EP
Kaki King - Legs to make us Longer
Strapping Young Lad - Alien

I am 17 so that means that I was born in......1989, wow am I that old already? But I don't consider myself listening to my current music until I picked up the Guitar. So only for about 6 years or so Have I been really into the Classic Rock. My and my band mates are under this impression that we are going to bring it back . But yeah, I never really listened to music much as a child, so I guess you can call me a product of the 90's .
-
You're not from the 80s unless you graduated in the 80s.
-

Can I take another opportunity to mention that fantastic Last.fm service.
Basically a plugin for your media player that reports the songs you play to a website which then creates charts (for both you, and for all users combined). It can also create a personalised streaming radio station for you and make music recommendations based on what you've listend too and what other people who like the same stuff listen too. Plus, it's FREE. :)
You can also embed some of your charts in your own website (in a variety of styles).
Here's my overall top-5 artist chart:

I know there not everyones cup of tea but they grow on you and some of their stuff is pretty clever. Don't make the mistake of lumping them in with Oasis ect as it's a lot different!
-

The Orson album is f***in' awsome.
It's got a real Thin Lizzy/Police sound to it.
-
Killing Joke - Hosannas From the Basements of Hell: As always Jaz sounds like he's about to rip someone's head off, and Geordie's tone does.
Atavist - Atavist: Painfully slow & angry Mancunians, awesome.
The Abominable Iron Sloth - The Abominable Iron Sloth: Dirgey, sludgey, angry growling, another classic in constant rotation at Skybone Towers. Song titles like "The Family That Slays Together Stays Together" and "Parasite Hilton and Other Flaws Inherant to Wealth".
Trouble - Trouble: The 1990 s/t not the '84 renamed one. Excellent band.

And in my room, Neil Young: Living With War, Bruce Springsteen: The Seeger Sessions, Metallica: Master Of Puppets and Shotgun Messiah
