New guy here. Hello All! I've been thinking about a set of Irish Tours. Are they versitle fot all types of music. I don't want to get ant too hot. Play Gospel and blusey Gospel in church. Im I headed in the right direction?

Hi !:D
Well, the Irish Tours are among the hotter singlecoils Bareknuckle sell, although not the hottest.
Maybe you should look - for blues and gospel - at one of the more 'vintage' sets? Everyone loves the Apaches, apparently they sound best with a maple neck. I have a set of Mothers Milk with a rosewood neck, which sound good too. You can get really nice cleans, but also plenty of power if needs be.
Hope that's (some) help!

Hello,
I'd go for a set of Apaches..... I love mine and I play a similar style!
God bless!

Id agree with Willo - Apaches with maple, Mother's Milk with Rosewood

Although I have a R/W neck on my Strat with Apaches and it is superb but as I have not compared it with a set of MM's I can't comment.

hmmm....really Mr Beatle....I always wanted to try a strat with apaches, but i figured I'd therefore be looking at a maple neck (and I only like the dark colours, ). Interesting to hear that it works so well for you, makes me think...
(yes, i dont know what im talking about, ive gotta get back to work)

Pity we are at opposite ends of the country Willo- I would gladly let you have a go on it. I would like to see what a set of MM's sound like in comparison. I have a second Strat- a 1960's Jap reissue ( see avatar)and hopefully I will get to BK that ( insolvent son permitting). I was talking to Tim at the LGS and I might go for Slowhands- something a bit darker- much as I love the Apaches. Steve's slowhand clips also appealed. One thing is for sure, after hearing the BK's the stock Fender pups are ok but nothing like as good.

I have Fralin Vintage Hots in my mim strat. Can you tell me if the Apaches sound similar in tone to the Fralins?
-
From what I've heard of clips of both pickups, and the specs of them both, I'd say you're looking at two completely different single coil sounds. The Fralin vintage hots would probably be more like the Irish Tours, though I'm guessing now.
-
can't get any help here in the US because no one seems to have the Bare Knuckles. Fralin Vintage Hots are very vintage. Not very hot at all. Sweet, chimey, and Glassey. The Irish tours are listed on this site as Vintage hot. Wish ther was some way to compare the two. How hot are the Irish tours in comparison to the Apaches?
-
I acnt compare the Irish Tours with the Apaches I am afraid. Having heard clips, they ( the IT's) do have more output but they do clean up well seemingly. What I can say is that I have used my Apache loaded Strat live in a covers band and it copes brilliantly. Classic Strat tones.
-
I would not want the Apaches and get a similar tone as the Fralin Vintage Hots. If the Irish Tours have more output I'll get them so I'll have one Vintage tone in th3 mim with fralins and one hotter tone in the USA.

stagger or flat pole for 1999 USA strat?
-
If you have a maple neck strat I think the Irish ours might be a bit too bright. I would got with the Apaches too. For the stagger, I would go with the regular vintage stagger.
-
I have a full set of irish tours on my Jap strat with a maple neck and thye soundgreta, I wouldn't say they sound overly bright at all. They sound full and meaty when cranked and you can back them off for nice smooth/mellow tones.
Even if they did seem on the bright side to another player you can always compensate by adjusting the treble and mid settings on your amp.

Unless its a 'vintage' model I think modern Fenders need flat poles
-
buy both, s'what i'm gonna do, once i get paid, and buy the guitar, and then get paid again, then pay off some debts, then go on holiday, then sober up, then get paid again, THEN i'm gonna buy both, so i'll let you know how they compare, provided the apocalypse hasn't popped in for it's second coming.......

btw, how much difference is there between the apaches and the mothers milks?????????
