Title: Indie pickups
Post by: Jimijr on May 22, 2006, 11:58:52 PM
Hey

Im joining an indie band in the summer but the only indie style guitar I have is my brothers little squier strat.

I want to set this up properly, give this new pickups, the works.

Does anybody know which BKP's are best for styles of music such as: The Libertines, Babyshambles, Dirty Pretty Things and Arctic monkeys???

Thankyou

Indie is pretty vintage sounding to me. I'd go for Mississippi Queens...

i suspect the warpigs bit may have been humour :D

i'd imagine some of the mid output strat sets, irish tours or apaches, should cover what you want.  and sound good with proper music too!

In my Indie band I use:

a Strat with a Crawler humbucker in the bridge and 2 Irish Tours in the middle and neck

a Gordon Smith Graduate60 (LP clone) with a Black Dog bridge and Riff Raff neck

a Gibson LP Standard which currently has Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers in it (changing these to Mules when I can afford it!)

All of these guitars sound great for the Indie stuff my band does.

It does, and i've directed him to your mySpace, but he's not the brightest, might get lost. :D
