As i said in my previous thread i had a list of equiptment, then said screw that i might just save up for a Gibson Explorer and get it next year, however it has changed slightly again.
I have come across this Dean ML Black And Gold guitar which i rather like the looks of, however i havn't heard the best of things from Dean guitars, but if i put a set of BKP's in it then i think it would sound great, the price is right for the Dean, and i'm not sure if saving for an Explorer is the right thing since they are horribly overpriced. Here's the guitar:
Dean ML Black And Gold
Trans black,
Flame Maple Top,
Mahogany Body and Neck,
Set Neck,
Rosewood Fretboard,
Pearl Black Inlay,
"Black Gold" 12th Fret Inlay,
Gold Hardware,
Grover Tuners.

RRP: £599
Price: £489
I'm stumped since i don't know how good the BKP's will make it sound since i havn't had the honour of having a pair of them. I was thinking putting a Calib. set of Warpigs in there.

Just outta interest, if u wanted an explorer, why not get the Deam Explorer type? They are meant to be GOOD guitars.
Or even better, if you can afford it (cheaper than Gibbo though) an Edwards Explorer (esp subsiduary).
Deans are quite well regarded over here now (well the better ones anyway). That is basically the Dimebag Daryll shape (minus the crazy finish).
Anyways, good luck!
BTW, SOON :) I will have a calib. Warpig set in my Custom SG and will be able to comment in that regard.

Best price for Deans is www.singingchicken.co.uk
Midrange Deans are usually well made and play very well, they just have poor pickups, so sticking a pair of BKPs in should do just the job. Indeed, I'm budgeting for a Vendetta with a set of Cold Sweats, as I'm being overtaken by GAS :( I am quite taken with the black and gold ML and Z though (and I don't even really like pointy guitars), and the new 1980 Cadillac would be really sweet with some Rebel Yells............. Aaagh! Help!!! The GAS!!! The GAS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, for replys, yeah i know they do an explorer shape, but then i will have to get it off the internet instead of my guitar shop and i won't be able to try it out that way, also i don't mind that shape, just the guy in my band has a washburn which is basically the same shape lol
Edit: Bloody hell those prices are insane on that website, i might get a better Dean from there if i find one i really like!
-
remember, that on that website, the prices are minus VAT
-
Yeah i just saw that, and there was only one that i liked which was the Dime-O-Flame but it has the same specs as the one i want now except a Floyd Rose and Dime written on it, and i don't want to pay extra for those because i don't need them.

I think you're better of pimping a Dean than saving for a Gibson. New Gibsons are overpriced. If you can scrimp enough money together for a new Gibbo you would be better off going for something custom-made. IMO, of course.

I'm gonna steal that for my sig! This will be my very first sig. 8)

Yeah i think the Dean the way to go, now i need to choose my humbuckers, i had my mind pretty set on calib. set of warpigs, then i just looked at the nailbombs again and they sound nice on the clips page. But i have put in a request for some harmonical warpigs on the players section like zakk wylde, and as long as that happens then i will get them.

Even with the VAT they're pretty cheap. If you email them they may well be able to do a black gold for you (I'm sure I read on the site somewhere that they do the whole line). I'm not sure I'd get a USA model from them, but for a Korean one the prices are hard to beat.
Searcher, will it be identified as my intellectual property?

Or get a USA Z
-
USA Z's are even more expensive than Gibsons.
-
Yes, but you get a lot more for your money. USA Deans are more on a par with PRS than Gibson. Anyway, they have a USA pro range (no flamed maple etc) which is pretty reasonable (about a grand)
-
I think i'm going to try and find a Dean Z Black And Gold, since i want an Explorer shape.

Nah, this is the internet. It's mine now. MINE! :P
