Title: Humbucker sets
Post by: death26row on May 30, 2005, 10:38:39 PM
hey all.

im currently getting a custom guitar built with current specs for EMG 81/85 and i currently have them in my RG2550 so im thinking about getting a set of BNPs as ive heard nothing but good things about them.... question is what would be a good combination for heavy/death metal. i play through an ENGL screamer 50 which i may upgrade to a powerball soon. ive been thinking about a Warpig in the bridge and a nailbomb in the neck.... ive heard the nailbomb clip and its amasing but without a warpig sample im going by your reccomendations for which is better for the bridge/neck

cheers

The Warpig can’t be beaten for heavy/death metal. I think that a Nailbomb could sound a bit muddy in the neck so I would advise a calibrated set of Warpig for your axe! We’ve sold Warpigs to allot of EMG 81 users, all of them have been very happy with the results!
What bands/guitarists do you like the sound of?

I am one of those guys Steve's talking about. I've been playing guitars with EMG81's for years. Thet were the best for the job untill the Warpig crossed my path.

well the bands i listen to theres only metallica that use EMGs thatim aware of, im a big fan of sinergy nightwish not death but ace tone..... also rammstein, alice cooper and cradle of filth, i know none of them would really be classed as death i think the closest would be either dimmu or gutworm..... its not really a band tone im after though i like to have my own individual tone which is why i went with ENGL and why im thinking about BNPs, also it may not be just yet as the guitar im getting i have been told warpigs are nearly twice the ammount of EMGs.... due to them buying direct from america :(

BUT i am definatly interested in a set sooner rarther then later and may yet change my mind and pay the extra

Hey Steve - the Nailbomb necks sound great, mine's never sounded muddy! But perhaps not the best mix with a Pig, bit too much of a contrast!!

It seems there is a soundclip in the making from a 7-string Warpig. You could wait for that and let your ears be the judge.

We're all big Rammstein fans here at BKP, Ive seen them 3 times! Funny you should like Cradle of filth, Tim taught Stuart there old guitarist to play!

I think that the best bet would be to go with a calibrated set of Pigs!

I think he's means using a Nailbomb bridge p/up as a neck.
