I have my driving test soon, and if possible I want to use my brothers car which I've been practising in as I find it much easier to drive than my instructors car. Apparently you have to have the adjustable interior mirror for examiners use so they can watch you checking mirrors etc.. I cant find anywhere where I can get one of these from! Does anyone have any idea? If not I'll have to try and borrow my instructors I guess but thatd mean that he cant teach whilst I have these mirrors as he still needs them..
Cheers

Tom, I don't think you need anything in addition to what is in the car. A tip I was given was to deliberately set the mirror in such a way that I had to exagerate the movement of looking into it- I passed my test so it seemed to have worked. Once you have passed, as I am sure you will, you can then set the mirror to give you maximum rear view. It goes to show that you are as much learning to pass a test as you are learning to drive.

Well on the back of the letter for the booking it says the car needs to be fitted with an additional interior mirror for the examiners use, I dont really want to turn up to the test then not be able to take it or something stupid like that.

agreed- that's what I hate about exams- you're trying to pass the exam, rather than prove you're any good, lol.
I mean, if I took the test tomorrow ( I passed when I was 17, so that's about 7 years ago), I'd probably fail.
Am I a worse driver than I was when I passed? I'm pretty sure I'm about a million times better (at least, those 15 people I ran over last week are too ill to testify... ;) ), but it goes to show you do stuff in the test to let you pass, rather than make you any good at driving...
oh, and good luck, tom!

I see what you mean Tom- I used the driving schools car for the test. You meant, of course, the mirror for the examiner and I misunderstood what you are getting at though my other comment still stands. I can't help with where to get them-sorry.

Yeah tests are pretty stupid really..but we have to do em. Anway, I thought something liek this might work, I guess I'd best speak to my instructor first though... cheap though! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BABY-CHILDRENS-Car-rear-view-mirror-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ6886066940QQcategoryZ20436QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

the mirror trick is a good one..
BUT
38thBeatle refers to the fact hes on his 38th VW Beatle car... not sure how safe his driving is... ;)

Actually I have never driven a Beetle- old model or the new. Not sure that I'd want to either.

Tom, go to Halfords and get a simple/cheap suction mirror (my folks garage used to sell em).

aha thats perfect dakine, thanks alot! Well my parents dont think its a good idea me taking the test in my brothers car for some reason, they think its best to do it in the one I'm learning in... but I find the little Fiat easy to drive compared to my instructors!
