I have a gibson LP with SD distortions in it, i love them!
but...
I also own a burny LP copy, this sounds mutch brighter when played clean (without an amp) and brighter when aplified as well.
my tone is high gain fat and loud, amp is a Koch Powertone 120 tube amp.
so i want to change pub's in the burny, will the nailbomb do the trick? or maybe the warpig?

I'd recommend putting a Miracle Man in there.
I used to use SD Distortions because of my George Lynch fixation but have switched to BKP MMs as the tone is more convincing and less frothy & has less treble.
Kind of nailed the tone a lot more - fab!

I think that the Screamin' Demon is hands down the best pup Duncan makes.
I really can't wait to throw my Miracle man into the Kamikaze and compare it!! :D

It'll be interesting as they're poles apart as pickups. The SD is very much a hot PAF tone-our VH II is in this sort of territory-but if Lynch is you thing(and why not, he can play serious fiddle)then the Miracle Man is well worth a go.

Tim, would you say that the Miracle Man is kind of like YOUR "JB" pickup, in that the JB is Duncan's most versatile, and ubiquitous, model ...

No not really-as a rock pickup it takes some beating but for vesatility I'd pesonally look at something like a VH II or for extra power, a Nailbomb. They'll do alot more stock tones whereas the Miracle Man I designed for a specific job-metal :twisted:
The Nailbomb is a better tonal comparison to a JB although I've worked hard at getting rid of that honk/spikey mid the JBs(all the new ones) have without losing punch in the mid range. Again the plain enamel wire and scatterwind really help this out. It's very powerful but very organic and musical too
My all time fav humbucker is The Mule, it's a hot vintage humbucker that I really adore the tone of. It has enough power for me to still do rock, even the Ozzy stuff, but it's so sweet too and great for blues/rock. It's all in how you attack the thing and it's so dynamic. Alot of players would want more power for higher gain applications but I find if I just dig in with the pick it's all there.
It's so difficult trying to point out a do-all pickup which is why I like to interact with our customers, discuss the guitars and amps they use and find out what they're really into. That why I can build pickups for them that really do what they say on the box!! :D
The attention is in the detail and I like to get things right.

The thing is that my gibby is kinda dark sounding, amped and barewood.
the burny is bright, but i want a darker sound to match the gibsons tone, its gonna be my backup geetar.
thats why im looking at other pickups.
and bareknuckles seems the way to go for now...

I'd suggest the Nailbomb, it'll really add some meat to your bright guitar without compromising clarity. I wind them with plain enamel wire and power it with a vintage cut(longer)unpolished Alnico V magnet. The tone is organic and very punchy-if you want to get heard this is the one.

Did the business in my lighweight Ibanez RG......didn't expect to ever hear such a great big tight bottom end out of that axe. It's gone from my least played to most played guitar now the Dimazio pups have gone!

Ok, as soon as the burny's back from the luthier (neck will be made thinner) i will get a Nailbomb set!

The standard fernandez pickups from the 80's.
not bad, sounds very PAF like, great clean Page tone.
But no balls..

Ah..........the Nailbomb has a huge pair of balls and will add serious muscle! :D
