Hey guys.
Over the last few months I've been rebuilding an old Japanese Strat that I found at college a few years ago (dubbed the Brow-Caster by someone trying to be funny!).
I used this guitar a while ago with a JB Jr in the bridge, a Quarter Pound in the middle and a Lil 59 in the neck. While it was never my favourite guitar, it got used a bit until I got my Gibson and my Gordon Smith and then it kinda faded into obscurity a bit.
When I got the Bareknuckle Crawler/Irish Tour/Irish Tour pickup set for my 93 Fender Strat, I decided to rebuild the Browcaster with the scratchplate and Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot pickups that were on my Fender before I got the Bareknuckle Pickups for it.
Here's some pics of the finished thing just incase anyone may be interested:

I plan on either putting a set of Apches in it or taking the 2 Irish Tours outta my Fender Strat and then buying a bridge Irish Tour and then putting them in this guitar while I replace the 2 in my Fender Strat with Mothers Milk.
I haven't quite decided yet :D

That finish is really cool, havent really seen that done much so its unique at least :D Cant wait to get my strat finished, just need cash for bridge and tuners then it'll be more playable.. new bkps eventually

That looks like a nice guitar Brow. Definately a set of Apaches methinks.

Too many springs!!
CRAZY! I've never seen 5 springs in the spring cavity on anything with a floating bridge...

yea unless ur using gauge 13's it probably wont be floating and it'll be pulling the bridge flush to the body :P

Thanx for the posts guys :)

Yup I found it :D
The drama department at college was putting some sort of a performance on and they needed a prop guitar to use during the show. 1 of the Music Tutors had this guitar lying around unused at home so he bought it in to let them use.
Anyways, I started college a few years after this and the guitar was found in pieces in a carrier bag stuffed into a filing cabinet that the college caretakers had been told to throw away as it was unused.
I asked if I could have the guitar, it was only going to be thrown away anyway, and the caretakers asked the music faculty if i could have the guitar and they said yes :)
It was originally painted black and the paint was extremely battered. Myself and a mate stripped the paint off and found this finish underneath. As it was something different to anything we'd ever seen before, we oiled the guitar and then sealed this with wax, and that's how it's finished today :)

You are correct sir :D
I don't use the trem much anyway so thought I might aswell just block it :)

I have seen people do this to "hardtail" their stock trems like this. I have 3 on mine to make it a hardtail personally.

HAving the trem springs in and stratched hard while the trem is hardtailed does give you a crude reverb effect which many players find very pleasing
3 springs or 5 doesnt matter as long as they are stretched out

I'd never thought of that.
I might have to go and give it a go!
Jonathan, going from the pics I've posted, can you shed anymore light on what woods the body may be made out of?
