Well, most of you know I have had a rough time lately, but trying to stay busy helps (it has not 'hit' me yet and may take an indeterminable time I guess).
Anyway, the Engl Screamer half stack has had some good thrashing and it RAWKS! OMG it's LOUD, however was I contemplating a 100w Blackmore?!?!?!
Have lessons lined up with Andy Boulton ex. of Tokyo Blade and Shogun, who nows lives all of 2 miles from me (small world huh) and will indeed be a wealth of knowledge/stories apart from teaching (as he toured US and Europe on bills alongside Ozzy etc.). I actually knew Alan Marsh of aformentioned bands quite well and dare say Andy may remember me. Not gotten out whole lot due to recent circumstances but am lead to believe alot of my old cohorts are still around and the area has a VERY fertile music scene. Also, Andy lost his father to cancer and indeed he may help in my pain.
Due to circumstances my mood has not been exactly 'rosy' and my playing has entered more a realm of old skool Metallica. Hence I got real 'dirty' with the amp/settings of late. However, in a vein of 'can never have enough' I decided the Engl was not near 'nasty' enough for me right now, lol.
So, same shop that had the Engl (was bought out, stock and all in Jan. this year) had some other interesting stuff that it was 'dealing' on to replenish and re-stock with new/different gear.
Anyway, did one hell of a deal on a new H.B.E. Power Screamer they had left. Sooooooooo, let carnage commence!
Spoke to 'er indoors' and my Warpigs arrived, so now gotta wait for month or so to be re-united with my SG with them fitted (as guitar will be shipped with all else when she comes over here from Texas). So, clips will have to wait I am afraid.
Anyway, thats me for now. All geared up and nearly ready to go. Service is this Tuesday and after that I hope things will settle a little and I can start to try and begin the long road into being back in UK and attaining some normality again.

welcome back mate.
-
welcome back, man. You got a screamer then?
:D
-
Thanks Sam!
Yeah Dave mate, 3 week old Screamer half stack (2x12) too good price to turn down and yesterday a Home Brew Power Screamer , cos y'know Engls lack enuff gain ;)

Great to hear from you Nick, been thinking about you. Cant comment on the amps though.

but yeah, with something like a screamer, an OD could help you get a better selection of tones, since it doesn't have features like rough and smooth buttons...
What's the power screamer like (compared to OD's I might have tried, say tubescreamer and SD1)? If I ever get round to getting an OD, the powerscreamer is well up my list...
what footswitch are you using with that?
I'm having to use the cheapo 2-button ones, as the decent 6-button ones won't let me switch all the options... they're pretty feeble, but the decent 2-button ones were like £50-£75 each, no way I was buying 4 of those...:(

Dave,
not had enough time with the Power Screamer really but I would say (after using both now briefly) it is a 3 way Big D, that is it has a 3 way instead of 5 way toggle for switching. It does NOT effect my tone adversely at all and is VERY good and well built. The boost is great with a 10dB boost. It hammers a TS808 tube screamer and way beyond but can also be silky/creamy if desired. Very good pedal indeed and MANY sounds can be gotten from it. Will take awhile to get dialled in as I want.
The pedal (switching) that I did'nt get yet is by 'indie', never heard of em but the shop will sell (4 way switching for the 4 channels) for £20! I know the Engl one does more, but ask ya, £20 for channel switching, gotta be a deal.
Nick
Just want all my axes over here now (esp. my BKP Warpig SG) to play with the Engl et all.
-
^ yeah, i think the 6 button engl one is like £120 or something.
lemme know what you think of the power screamer when you get to try it more, nick!

Yeah, I second this. :D

Hmm Screamer and PowerScreamer, sounds like a tempting combination. There are so many screramers in here now, maybe Tim should wire the perfect companion Screamer Pickup ?
-
But he doesn't have one to go by anymore - would be difficult to wire a companion to a screamer when he doesn't have one :P
-
Well he can just provide sample products to us, his beta testers working at no charge :D
-
Now, I wouldn't complain about that - as long as it was just us two so that we can bully all the other screamer owners on here about how they're not special
