Title: Stock or RWRP middle pup

There have been a few posts on this topic but after quarter of an hour of looking, I cant find any. So...

I have a H/S/H guitar, so in that respect, dont need any hum cancelling attributes (RWRP).
However, I've been told that the stock middle single coil has more mids than the RWRP, which has a more hollow sound.

Which of the two would be best suited to undriven cleans and mellow chord work...in the ball park of 'Wish you were here' by Pink floyd.

The pickup is a Mothers milk.

I'm not a fan of reverse wound middle pickups; to me, they lose focus. Getting that Wish You Were Here tone might be very difficult with the two humbuckers. You may want to get them wired so that you can operate a single coil from each pickup.

I had a guitar wired so that the middle pickup wasn't reverse wired and it sounded thin and unpleasant to me, so I rewired it.  It's only been the one time though.

Im getting a Mississippi queen for the neck and Nailbomb bridge. What would probably be the best option for wiring them with a five way selector switch

It depends on the phase and also if you wire it in series or parallel.  The Brian May switching lets you hear some of the series combinations and some of them do sound really bad!  

I have both types of centre pickup in my strats, but find that I prefer the non-rwrp.  You can set up the switching of an H/S/H guitar to give you automatic coil split if you want.  I am setting mine up to give me the following:

Bridge HB
Bridge screw coil and neck screw coil in series
Both HB's (coils in series, pickups in parallel)
Bridge Stud coil and neck Stud coil in parallel
Neck HB

I am having a separate mini toggle to let me have the single coil by itself,  with whatever other combination is selected, or by passed.

If you use a 5-way 4-pole super  switch you can set up almost anything you want.  Add a 3-way 4-pole switch and you really do have the ability to change everything.

if you have a MQ neck then you rally have a H/S/S set up.  I usually have this as:

bridge HB,
bridge screw coild and middle
bridge stud and neck (like a tele in the centre position)
middle and neck
neck

Get two Mules or Stormy Mondays.  Still humbuckers, but you can get a sweet Floyd sound with them I'm sure ;)
