Title: SS Rebel Yells installed!
Post by: Phantom_Orchestra on June 21, 2006, 08:37:46 AM
Hey guys, this is my first post, glad to officially be a part of the BKP family!

Just recieved my SS pickups and have to say they are unlike anything I have played! Thick, Wide, Very Balanced,Warm, killer tone, GREAT harmonics. Like steve said in an interview i read, the harmonics keep your G truly in tune on those bar chords, amazing. The balance is awesome on chords, every note seems equal, clear, and ringing. Neck and bridge combined have such a great tone for leads. I will try and record something soon and post it, for now, heres a pic of my axe with the BKP RY

Thanks

That's awesome!  I sure like the body style of the Ravelle.  Have you played a Les Paul before?  If so, how does the Ravelle compare from a "feel" standpoint to you?

Also, is the Rebel Yell beefy enough in the lower end that palm muted "chugging" riffs sound good?

Yes i have a les paul as well, and they are very similar "feel" wise, but the ravelle definetly has is its own character. as far as that chugging, thats part of my life goal and a big reason I purchased this picup, and this delivers! Steve is the reason I picked up the guitar and his tone is what im striving for. Im using Peavy 5150(2) and the marshall cab. Check out steves muting on "yelling at the xmas tre" off billys new album, it makes me cry. Steve, if you are reading this, what were the recording techniques on that track, dying to know!

The Ravelle reminds me of a cross between a Les Paul and an Iceman.

Nice guitar! ;)

Nice!  I got mine installed, but the tone pot on the bridge went and there's some harsh overtones there...  should have it fixed tomorrow hopefully!

The neck is absolutely sick sounding.  Played it through my Vox AC30 before that died on me and it sounded similiar to a PAF but warmer.  The bridge was getting me a couple different tones, but there's some harshness there that I think is the bad tone pot.

that's my next guitar. Pretty much exactly - just i'd like mine in a vintage white, and preferably with an olde skool pinup girl on it
