Title: Rack Case causing hum
Post by: maliciousteve on June 22, 2006, 01:50:33 PM
Hey, Everytime i got to screw my power amp back into the rack case i get an annoying hum. When i loosen the screws the hum goes, when i tighten them up, the hum comes back. I've never ever heard of this before, how can i fix this problem? :(

I've heard that you can get these little rubber pads that you put between the the rack mounting plate and the mounts on the unit, they stop the metal touching, thus stopping the rack case conducting any power from the unit.. or something along those lines.

Check out http://www.hugeracksinc.com/board/ the are loads of rack nerds over there that will have a easy solution for you.

Yeah - they were called humfrees

Small plastic clips that go between the rack ears and the flightcase and isolate the chassis

Also be careful to mak sure power cables and signal cables dont cross or run alongside each other- the signal cable picks up hum fro the mains cable
