I'm still in 2 minds whether to go with a set of Rebel Yells or Mules. It's for an SG type guitar (Guild S-100) and I want (I think) alnico IV for neck + alnico V for bridge. If I got a RY for my bridge and a Mule for my neck would they balance well together? :band5:
Or would getting a slightly underwound RY be advisable as it's for an SG-type guitar? Any help would be great!

They'd balance out fine - BKP sell quite a few Warpig/Mule sets with great feedback!
Go for it.
I'd advise you to PM Tim himself since he is the king

I wouldn't get an underwound Rebel Yell. It really will still balance nicely with the 8.4 k Alnico IV Mule, seeing as it's also Alnico, warm and very punchy. And for the long run, you're going to want to have that extra bit of gain. If you wanted something less hot, then I'd advise going for one of the classic hot 'buckers instead of the RY. Good luck!

VH2?

Mule still gets my vote, it does high gain and clean with the same authenticity.

Thanks for the advice. I'm really after a bridge pickup that can handle harmonics/grunge/metal and a neck pickup for jazz/blues. The reason I thought of the underwind is because it's for an SG-type guitar and I'm not sure if the RY is mainly designed for Les Paul type guitars with thicker bodies. Also, I was told by Tim that Mule necks are DC 7.3K.

VHII's go really well in a solid mahogany bodied guitar. I've just put one in the bridge of an '05 Ibanez Iceman (cross between a Firebird and an SG), and it sounds awesome.
