So, It's time for my strat to get the BKP treatment, atm it's lined up for a Holydiver/Irish Tour HSS set, but I'm debating whether to get a chrome covered HD and chrome plated IT's or whether this would just look tacky and I should stick to white...
All opinions are welcome (picture of the guitar below to aid decision)

My $0.02US = all chrome. A bit more distinctive, IMHO. Or, for a slight contrast to the white pickguard, you might want to go with parchment. If you go with white or parchment on the IT's, I'd either go nickel with the HD and get a mounting ring matching the IT's, or open-coil zebra. (Egad, does that sound too much like some sort of pretentious interior designer?) Post a pic when you get it sorted out!

The other suggestion (from one of my arty friends) is that a black scratchplate would go better with the chrome...I'm not sure, however...
-
I would do chrome. Unless you want a sleeper.
-
I'm just photoshopping together chrome with a black pickguard - it looks pretty cool so far, I'll post it when I'm done and see what you think :)
-
I think you know deep down that chrome is gonna look really poor.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
-
Lol I dunno actually...I think it could look cool in the right circumstances - If i do it, I've gotta do it right or it'll just be tacky...
-
Black pickguard with white pickups? Not sure how that'd look and I'm too lazy to photoshop it at the minute :P I think chrome would look cr@p to be honest.
-
White, Chrome would be good, but white suits it more.
-
My (poor) attempt at photoshopping it...the chrome came out brownish, but you get the idea - I think it actually looks quite cool, and that I may go for it
I wanted something that looks a bit different from the regular strat - I was wary at getting one at first 'cause I've always thought them a bit common, and I like my individuality (ish)

Yeah that looks allright... the photoshopping was poor though  I might do a quick one just because I'm bored now.

w00t, Tom = legend :drink:

Well its not amazing but you get the idea, I think it looks pretty cool though, itd be better with black volume/tone controls though I reckon

I doubt that black knobs etc would be that expensve, so I can buy them and compare with the white ones which I already have...
But the chrome on black looks cool, so I think I'll go for that - looks better than on white anyways...If I change my mind, it's not too hard to get hold of white covers to replace the singles with so it's worth a try :)
-
Yep.. were the singles meant to be chrome?! I did em cream coz thats what colour I thought they were in the other pic :P
-
nix thu black pg. I think it would look awesome with chrome p/u's tho. Vintage and different.
-
Yeah, I was thinking they should go chrome also - keep the uniform idea going...but I couldn't make them look chrome with my photoshop :P

Lolol...unfortunately A+
I reckon black pickguard with white knobs and covers would be cool...something like Gilmours' strat.
Geg0ey's idea looks cool though...Go for it! 8)

:D There`s deffinatley an age gap issue here IMHO
To be honest chrome would look utter cr@p even with a black Pickguard. BUT if your gonna think about changing the Pickguard then why not look at something like these
http://pickguards.com/
Then you could get some BK`s with chrome finish`s
:D 8)

The black guard looks really nasty in my opinion. I think the chrome pickups would only look good on a white pickguard.

Already PM'd Jon over at Feline about getting a Mirror Acrylic Pickguard - whaddya think to that? It'll cost me like £35 so I'm a bit reluctant as to how it will look...
-
I used to have a mirror acrylic on a daphne blue strat in the 80's, but I had black covers on the single coils and a humbucker with double black coils in the bridge. If I was going to do it again now, I might do all white coils with it.
-
Hmmm, Mirror Acrylic with white p/ups and knobs etc might look cool...but for some reason I'm still tempted by the chrome - It'll take some more thought methinks
Phil: How did the mirror guard look after you'd played it for a while - did it look horrible when it got scratched?
-
I am pretty light on scratching, I use medium picks and tend to keep my hand on the bridge quite a bit (comes from playing LP's for years!). I remember it was a buggar to stop fingerprints though. I'm not sure what happened to it to tell you the truth, I changed to all black with the guitar, I had it resprayed (the blue had been hand painted), and put an EMG H/S/S set on it. I still have that and it looks mean!
-
I think I'm gonna get the chrome...and if I don't like it then I can go back to white :) otherwise I'll always be wondering what it would look like if i got the chrome
