Title: Guys, I'm looking to start a band in and around Horsham...
Post by: Marooned Messiah on July 01, 2006, 10:31:44 PM
West Sussex.
Influences MUST include METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, PANTERA, Journey, Queensryche, Jane's Addiction, Blind Melon, Jason Becker, Steve Vai, Sigur Ros, etc...
I am a guitarist, so a second guitarist (on top of bassist, vocalist, drummer, etc.) who preferably is better at lead than I am and can write all the ripping solos when necessary would be cool.

Lemme know what you think,
and keep on spockin'!

J.

 I would, as I only live in East Grinstead (near crawley) but I've recently joined a new project which is taking up most of my time atm...and my writing is abysmal lol

Good luck on the search though...

Do you not have any mates that play instruments/sing that you could ask? That's where all my bands have originated

Nope, I've only just moved back here after a long time away so I don't really know anyone.

I have literally no money dude, I already owe a lot of money back to someone.
Damn, if only I'd bought those shares in Friday Ad all those years ago! :P

I know a few players in Horsham - customers of mine as we are just up the road in Croydon

Sadly they are usually in bands - Greg from Limehouse Lizzy and Barry who used to be lead guitar in Dirty Deeds - the pet project of Maiden's Steve Harris as opposed to an AC/DC tribute band

I'll ask about where to find players when I see them next

I don't know what style you are into- apparently there is a blues session every  2nd tuesday at the Cherry Tree near Faygate. If that is your thing, maybe you could meet up with other musos there- sorry I dont know if that is any help. I have not been there myself though.

That's what you get for skim reading Mr Beatle :)

I think we can forgive you this slight mistake due to the fact that you're a real font of knowledge most of the time - especially if people want to know the best switching configuration for a Tele

Actually, I am interested in the 5 way that Phil mentioned- there is always something new to go for. Skim reading eh- you are dead right- I have to do an exam for work in 2 weeks and I have tons of rubbish to read and I am skimming like Mr Skim the skimming king of Skimsville.

:) That's about the way the revision for my A Levels went - You think you know it, and can't force yourself to read it fully for the second time...

Anyways, how would a 5 way work with 2 single coils?

We are hijacking poor Marooned's thread but briefly, the 5 way enables you to add a capacitor (I think) so that you get the normal 3 plus the 2 in series and then the capacitor-maybe Phil can confirm it.
Anyway, back to topic- I will keeps my ears open for any bands advertising. If you haven't already, put your name on Musofinder. I thought that there was quite a scene in Horsham with many young bands. Have you asked the guys in the music store in East Street- they don't have the traditional notice board ads though.I think they do in Crawley at Bedrock and that other one that I can't recall the name of at the moment.

Have you tried this site:

I know it is East Sussex but worth a look

Not for a while Rob no. I may have been a little under the influence when I wrote that-at the time I was mildly amused but now I am not sure-quick, were is that Ardbeg?
