Just wondering if anybody would know which Bare Knuckles (+alnico) would come the closest to the sound of Wolfmother's guitarist? His guitar is a '73 Gibson SG (I think with stock pickups), I would also be putting them in an SG type guitar. Here's a few clips; White Unicorn has some clean sounds. :orcass:

Although its not ceramic...id be tempted to go for the Riff raff:...great in SG's and typical of the vintige Sg sound, which would get you very close to Heskett's tone

I would be going for alnico pickups. What about the Stormy Mondays?

Since they're a Led Zepplin rip off I'd say you can't go wrong with a set a Black Dogs ;)

I thought of Black Dogs as well. I'm not sure how much more powerful they are compared to the SM's or Mules, or if they would suit an SG...

Well the black dogs arent ceramic either...their Alnico 5 (like the riff raff)
As far as I know...the black dogs dont have that much more output than the mules (a fair bit more than the stormy mondays tho which are more of a mellow and hollow bluesy sound)...the black dogs have more of a 'bite' to them
As for howe well they suit an SG...i cant help

I think they'd suit an SG just fine, Tim's pickups aren't so sepcialized that they're only meant for a certain guitar (i.e. a Black Dog being specifically made for a Les Paul). Plus I think both are similiar enough (mahogany body and necks, rosewood fretboards) that I'm sure they'd sound good in either guitar.

a '73 SG will still have pat# pickups as stock, right?
Mules or a Black Dog would get you there, but I gotta say that the Riff Raff would be perfect.
Now you gotta buy an old mkII Tonebender for that huge fuzztone he uses.

He never used his SG in the studio, mostly a '80s ES-335, other than that I'd say Black Dogs

saw wolfmother at oxegen last weekend, he used a gibson semihollow for the whole set
