Title: Stormy Monday. A poularity thing
Post by: chris o'donnell on June 03, 2005, 04:25:34 PM
I notice that Stormy Monday humbuckers don't get alot of mentions in the forum. this may be that peoples style of music require high output pickups.
I would recommend considering the SM if you want that lovely bluesy tone of 60s and 70s.
The low out put gives a great open tone which breaks up early and gives me a shiver down my spine.

Does anyone else use the SM, and if so what type of tones can you get.

Chris.

I've just today partnered a Stormy Monday with a Miracle Man of all things....not my first choice but the only one I had lying around the house (apart from a Lindy....)!

It was in my PRS with a black dog before I swapped to VHIIs last year.

The Stormy is really great. I find it very versatile, great tones clean and with filth. Provides a nice contrast with the Miracle Man, although it's an odd match!!

With high gain it stays open, no mush or mud, just great tone with a crisp attack. When you switch from bridge to neck it almost sounds like a P90, because of the tonal difference between the two, it's much thinner sounding, but still a great tone!

I haven't found anything it won't do, with a little bit of extra effort from your picking hand!!

I am very intrested in the Stormy Monday's.  I haven't heard them yet and am trying to decide between SM and the VH2.  If anyone has any clips of the Stormy Monday (clean and dirty) I would love to hear them.

Thanks a lot HJM.  I really want to hear that pup.  From the description on the site, it's the one I want but I want to be sure.  Can't wait to hear it!

Quick clips in the players forum, just done in haste to give you an idea...and with a nasty digital thing...

It sounds pretty good for something done in haste.  I like it.  Thanks a lot.
