Horah! i bought myself a Laney VH100R. I compared it to 2 different amps.
ENGL Screamer
Laney TT100
The TT100 didn't have the 'balls' of the VH100 at all. Would be great for 'rock' and lower to mid gain stuff, but it couldn't do much else.
The Screamer sounded too processed and a bit too fizzy for my taste although it did literally shake the entire room.
The VH100 just had an amazing clean tone. Almost fender like. The overdrive tones are also amazing, very thick, rounded with a bit of bite and sounds like it could cut through the mix incredibly well. Switch the gain on a bit more and switch on the resonance button and the 7 string i have comes alive like i've never heard before. Not too keen on EMG's anymore but it gives that real dirty low B sound that alot of 7 string guitarists want.
Completely happy and very happy with the guys at Wembley Guitar Centre they couldn't be nicer or more helpful.

Well done, glad you finally got what you want.
Did you try an ENGL Combo (out of interest) as my half stack is sooooooooo far from processed sounding it's not funny (not tried a combo). Just wondering is all.
Again, well done and happy playing.

Yeah i tried the head through an ENGL cab. I've tried the combo before and i loved the combo, maybe it's something to do with the cab

Glad you found an amp you liked, but out of those three, I'd probably like the vh100r the least (i still think it's great though, I just like the other ones more)....
I also thought the tt could get up to metal easily enough...
I have no idea, lol. I suppose it depends what your definition of "metal" is...
But good score. It's a really good amp, IMO.
