Bit of advice needed. Am having a custom Gordon Smith built, is a Les PAul style, All mahoghany body (no maple cap) mAple neck and ebony fingerboard. Was wondering what Bare Knuckle would suit? Am aftre a fairly high output, but with plenty of cut and no mush. I Think the all mahoghany body will be a big part of the tonality and am not sure what to use.
Recently fitted a nailbomb to a customers les paul and it sounded amazing, but have my doubts with the treble output>
help?

:guitar4: Hi man & welcome to the forum !! :D
check out the players section there`s lots of clips in there of the P/U`s :D
you have to decide what kind of sound your after :?:
i`ve not encountered anyone having problems with treble on these P/U`s :?
when i got my VH2`s i did have to reset up my amp settings in order to compensate for the treble i also backed the presence control off a bit. other players prefer to have the treble up :D
it comes down to your own personel taste. what type of sound are you after :?:

There's more treble in the Nailbomb it's alnico V, so perhaps you need to look towards an Alnico IV magnet.

I dont think it will be to much treble, but not enough. Fitted a set of seymour duncan alnico pro II to a les paul custom with a mahoghany top, sounded awful, but in standards they sound great. Am a bit concerned that the mahoghany will sap all the treble.
But in light of that, maybe a nailbomb is the way to go.
Am going to see john at gordon smiths on tuesday, see how my guitar is coming along will see what he thinks.
thanks for the welcome!

Forgot to say, i'm after the mark tremonti of alterbridge and laterrly creed. Maybe with a bit of slash and zakk thrown in. So pretty much high gain, powerful highs type stuff.
