hey im just about to order two bare knuckle pick ups and i have a dark silver/ shiny grey guitar. i have changed the tone knobs to be chrome but i was wondering whether people think i should get chrome, black, open poled, aged nickel or the camo covers for them or two different coloured ones. There's so many good looking ones i don't know what will look best :(  help me pleaseeeeeeeeee

yeah i saw that and loved it but i just dont think it would suit my guitar. Its quite a hard decison im drifting towards mississppi queen in chrome and nailbomb in chrome also but i want all of the finishes

Definately plain chrome . Ordinary chrome has a 'blue' tint to it whereas nickel is yellowish in appearance and goes nicer with Brown/red/tobacco/yellow/honeyburst guitars. I know the photos of 'nickel' and 'chrome' look the same on the BKP photo page, but in ordinary lighting conditions chrome has definately a blue hue
(that rhymes !).

Someone else on another thread described plain chrome as having  "the Daz" whiteness.. (based on an old brand of washing powder that used to have a blue tint in it for white shirts).


I feel that open black would 'cheapen' the look on your guitar's colour scheme and cream is right out of the window !  

I hear what the other guys are saying about burnt chrome looking 'striking' - but I think you are after the 'classy' effect.

So that's one vote for plain chrome then ....

that would look killer

or chrome as the blue hue will suit your guitar better, never been a fan of nickel.... looks cheap

Actually your one was quite good, and in some guitars it woud fit in really well - but Mister C's camo wasn't my cuppa tea

I think raw nickel would look best with a grey guitar.

I like double black open coils - ask yourself how much more black can you get and the answer is 'none'    :lol:

Zebra coils also look cool too.  For covered I always go with nickel as they age very nice - not a fan of that shiny chromed look.

there's a threshold though, where you ask yourself, how much more black can i stand.. and the answer is also.. 'none'

Satin chrome knobs would look pretty good with raw nickel pickups.

Chrome would be the best option IMO. It's a shame chrome doesn't really age, though.

talking of not being able to stand more black, the other guitarist in my band has just bought black hardware to put on his LP custom.  that guitar really will be none more black with it's EMGs too.

Hi again Nick and Ratrod,

I can imagine that satin chrome might look a good match with raw nickel, but I had an image in my mind of the pickups and knobs being deliberately brighter and 'upbeat' in contrast to the guitar body in order to ensure the guitar does not slide into greyness - but rather looks like a smart grey suit with sharp accessories.

im thinking chrome so the pick ups would match the chrome tone knobs + i have a chrome whammy bar at home dont know if black or chrome would look better though

If they're getting covered, then chrome - too much black on a guitar just looks nasty :P

A bit off topic, but still with the chrome theme - my chrome knobs and switch tip got delivered today :D

Now I'm just waiting on my black scratchplate, and special chromed Holy Diver HSS Set and i can get assembling my strat. Ima get Feline to paint it for me when I get paid, so it's gonna all be black and chrome :)

thats a point! Iv been trying to find a chrome switch tip everywhere cos mines black and i want it to get a chrome pone to match the knobs. Where did u find it?

If you scroll down, there's one for 5 way switches, and one for 3 way switches...They cost £3.25, and the colour is described as Silver, although it's actually chrome :drink:

EDIT: Free shipping to the UK. I ordered on Sunday, and they emailed me saying that they'd packed it up ready (on a sunday!) ready to be dispatched first thing monday morning...and then it arrived today. Great service tbh
