Title: 3 Hum Calib. Set?
Post by: Tricalibur on July 20, 2006, 01:43:37 AM: I have an Epiphone SG Custom with three Humbucking pickups in it(stock). Would it be posible to order a calibrated set of 3 Humbuckers? That is Neck-Middle-Bridge. If So I was thinking of saving a lil extra dough so I could afford like two Warpigs for the neck and middle positions and then I would put a different type of pup in the bridge for a totaly different type of lead sound from thu two warpigs. Thing is I realy cant figure out what pup might be able to both mix well with the pigs as well as be able to cut realy well when i flick thu selector switch to 'bridge' for solos. I know that I want it to have a single row of allen bolts so as to match the pigs visualy but wont that affect the high end respone of the pup? Either way I figure I could prob get Tim to wind it Ceramic to compensate for the lost treble. Anyways, I dont realy know a whole lot about which BKP's realy excel at lead tones so i thought Id get yall's suggestions / opinions?

Post by: Tim on July 20, 2006, 09:08:47 PM: We've done plenty of 'trio' humbucker sets and can calibrate all 3 easily depending on what you'd like.

Stock Epi pickups are not the worst I tried, but they aren't exactly quality items. When/if you upgrade you'll find BKPs sound quite alot better, more precise and less muddy. You might also like to check the existing wiring of the guitar. My Epi Flying V was wired in quite a bizarre way, which made it sound really muddy when rolling the volume down.

Either way though the main thing I wanna be able to do with the BKP's is run them all at max volume and still get a clear signal. W/ my current set-up I have to turn the mid pup almost all the way down w/ the selector in the middle position to get a decent, clear tone that isnt muffled or muddy.
