Im thinking of putting an Abraxes in the neck and VHII in the bridge of my peavey wolfgang with basswood body and birds eye maple neck and fingerboard.
Basically, would the 'hotter' Abraxes work well with the VHII in the bridge?

Because of the way Tim winds his pickups, when you specify Abraxas neck model and VHII bridge model, there is no way that he'll make the neck pup hotter than the bridge. It simply is not done. Neck pickups are, as far as I know, wound to have less volume than the bridge pickup. This sounds like an interesting combination, but I tell you (as I do with everyone looking for a new pair of pickups) CONSULT TIM. The guy knows his stuff and is always willing to help you find your tone. E-mail or PM him. But, may I suggest the VHII bridge model? It supposedly has a pristine tone for neck playing.

Isnt the Cold sweat set made with a hotter neck? Or have i got sunstroke....
-
Sunstroke  Cold Sweat bridge DC14K neck DC8.3K
-
I knew that, i was just testing! (whoops).

:D So why was my Cold Sweat Neck wound to 17DC ?
When the C/S were first released you [ Tim ] in a Post in reply to Ben stated that the Cold Sweat would have a hotter neck than a Bridge !
When did the spec change & why ? If it was a great idea to start with why have you changed it ?

Yeah, I wondered the same... 17-18K Cold Sweat neck is what I remember... :?

He did say the the neck Cold Sweat was 17.4K. On this post (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=908&highlight=cold+sweat+neck).
Cold Sweat humbuckers are available, bridge DC14.3K hot ceramic, neck DC17.4K Alnico V.
He must have changed the specs. Though a 17.4K neck pickups sounds interesting.

I thought ceramic pickups sounded hotter than alnico pickups, so that a 14k ceramic sounded hotter than the 17.4 alnico. Perhaps I am crazy.
