Bought it for my birthday (as gift to myself!) in april, got delivered this morning. My first semi

That's beautiful - how long 'til it gets the Stormy Mondays? :drink:
-
Looks sweet!

Stormy Mondays would be nice, but the Super 58's are doing a fine job at the moment, and i've been more interested in bass recently, so will be getting some new Bare knuckle jazzbass pickups before anything for my guitars.
Getting back to my new Ibanez, it is one hell of a well made guitar, much better QC than my old les paul, right up there with my Parker. So much for poor far eastern guitars. :D :D :D

... Deg0ey !
You beat me to the very question I was going to ask !
Nice one.
( nice looking guitar by the way Fatbob ! ).
Regards to all,
Derek.

Hey, That's a Beauty! Which model is that, and did you get to compare it to the fatterbodied AF75 ?
-
Cheers! It's the Artcore Custom AS103. I did try the Full hollow Jazz version (AF105 I think) which was lovely, but wanted a 335 type, (my unhealthy Alex Lifeson obsession!!)
It is a stonking guitar, didn't put it down 'till 3 o'clock this morning :D

I know a few ES-335 players that have given the Artcore high marks. Great guitar you now have. Happy miles.
-
I had a go on one a few weeks ago- not through an amp though and I liked the feel and build quality a lot- a definate possibility for the future.
-
Oooooh, lovely! :)

38, you should go and try one plugged in, great tones. But don't you only play s/c guitars?
Fubar, your avatar is class! :D

Thank you!
How does the artcore compare in sound to a 335? I'm searching for a guitar that does a fair to middling job of reproducing BB King's tone without being too expensive, will it come anywhere close?
-
Well I would like to give an expertly formed opinion of how it compares to a gibbo 335, but i've never played one! I have played the epi version though, and comparing it to that it is like getting a better built version, with better pickups (not quite BK's tho!) And looks to die for.
The sound is more refined and dynamic than the Epi 335, the neck is in a different class. The way this thing sounds has even got me trying to play Robben Ford type stuff, just need some talent now. :!:

Nice guitar! Sounds like your over the moon too! :D

Hi Fatbob, well I do prefer s/c guitars but I have always hankered after a semi. Epi Casino started it all off for me (single coil of course) but I then got into the cool look of them and I have always loved 335's but with my finances "real" one was out of the question.I saw the Ibi at the LGS and Mrs 38th got very bored whilst I had a go and I made a mental note to self, these are put together well, play well and chances are, sound great through an amp.I have played a few 335's over the years and know how they ought to sound so if/when I do get to try an Ibi I can cpompare. Can't justify another quitar at the moment though

It's a guitar that you don't own, what further justification do you need?! :?
