Title: Apaches
Post by: 38thBeatle on June 05, 2005, 06:15:26 PM
Well I have just collected my 1970's Strat from Ron at R/2e Guitars. He has installed Apaches and we decided on a push/pull pot mod that means the neck pup can be used with both the bridge & bridge middle. If anyone out there is dithering about getting installing Apaches then dont- just do it and I promise you will not regret it. They also have plenty of punch too. Dial a bit of gain in and they will reward with an "alive" sound. The neck is just stunning- that lovely "plummy" tone. Even Mrs 38th, when coerced into a blind test against my stock 1960's reissue, said that the BKPs sounded much better ( ok, she was trying to shut me up to get me to do some domestic chore or other I admit but she admitted later that "bareknuckling" my other Strat is indeed on the agenda when funds permit).Cheers to all at BKP and, of course, Ron who I will be seeing again as soon as I can. I will also have to consider what to get for my Tele

Amen brother, you have seen the righteous light!! Apache's rule!

Very interesting neck and bridge mix on 38th's Strat, quite different to the other two in-between sounds, very usable. A worthwhile mod, just a push/pull switch to bring in the neck pickup in any position of the 5 way, so effectively two additional sounds, neck and bridge, and all three together.

Great 38th, a good result.Apaches are one of my fav single coil sets we make and I must admit I still have the original, final, prototype set in my Relic-they're not coming out for anything!
