I just got a used Schecter off of ebay, pretty nice if i do say so myself. One friend suggested Cold Sweats, while I like the Miracle Man's. Anyone know what sounds awesome with a mahogany body?
Thanks!

Which Shecter would be helpful. Cold sweat in the neck will give you that fluid Petrucci sort of tone (obviously coupled with a ridiculously good legato ad alternate picking technique). The Miracle Man is good for Thrash and high gain shred lead. However, looking at your list of influences this isn't what you are after, as you're more rock than metal. Something like a Rebel Yell set (the neck pickup is the same as in a Cold Sweat set) could be the way to go, plenty of grunt in a classic yet modern sounding pickup, that's great in mahogany guitars.
If you decide that you do want a higher gain sound, then a miracle man or nailbomb at the bridge and a cold sweat at the neck is a good setup.

Miracle Man in bridge, Cold Sweat in neck. Sorted :D

Miracle Man set.

none of those listed players on his profile use high gain pickup imo - how about a Riff Raff?

Nailbomb/Cold Sweat set...maybe even VHIIs? I think you want a warmer, Alnico based pickup for the tones you're after... I think the suggestion for Rebel Yells is definitley worth heeding...they are definitely worthy of consideration.

Thanks for the replies. If it is any help the guitar is a Schecter C1+ (C1 Plus) with a vintage sunburst finish. Not that the finish has anything to do with the sound, but i thought i'd tell you anyway!
Thanks

See, I think Rebel Yells or Cold Sweats would be mint in that.

NAILBOMBS! I have Nailbombs in my Schecter C-1 Classic. Excellent, Excellent.

Choices, choices... too many of them...
