Interesting in a mind numbingly boring way :-P Yes his technique is impressive, if a little noisey, i personally wouldn't like to play that fast, mainly cause it seems that all the people i've seen play at that sort of speed lose all creativity, song writting ability and origionality.
I'd much rather listen to this guy..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FNlwmpU7Rk&search=kazuhito%20yamashitea
His technique is amazing, apparently he could play two scales and once whilest maintaining a bass line.
Makes it sound musical aswell, even though he's not very liked in the classical comunity, i still think he rules.
Edit - Check the scaler run at the 4 min 20 mark in this Kazuhito clip, rather insane if you ask me.
-
That first guy looks like a fanny, also i don't know why you need to play that fast.
Edit: the second guy also looks like a fanny, not how he looks i mean when he is playing!
-
I was not impressed by either of those as much as I was by this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTD2mwwlPqc&search=adam%20fulara :drink:
-
Is he trying to push a t**d out...that face!
-
Wowser.... Adam Fulara takes guitar gurning to a whole new level!
His mother must of fed him with a catapult.
He looks like the bar-steward child of Cliff Burton and Dweezill Zappa.. but he is good.
-
He's even thrusting as he is gurning!!
Better than Ron Jeremy!

ROFL
yo dude.. we need to grab a couple of beers once i'm up in londinium again!!!
that first clip is face melting boring! there was another that was like listening to a vacuum cleaner..
then there's the other that was LITERALY just weedly weedly LOL
-
I found him earlier when I was browsing luthiers for a possible custom build, and I found the rek guitars site with a picture of the guitar he plays with a link to him on you tube. When I first saw the guitar it looked unplayable because the necks are so close together - but then after following the link i understood
-
yea... at that point it's starting to play like a piano, more than a guitar
-
Yeah that ive seen that Adam Fulara guy befor, he is rather good, the faces just make the clip that much better :-D
-
He wants to get his Nan to knit him one of those slipknot masks.

gotta love these "fastest player" threads.
Seriousley though i could bash a fretboard with my hands and toes at the the same time = 20 notes with one stroke and i could do it pretty quick I rekon, but it would sound like cr@p :D
Anyway I rekon any faster than say 16th sextuplets at 140bpm is too fast and this is what most shredders use as their upper speed without being sloppy.
-
Well as John Petrucci always says,
'If you can't play over 8,000,000,000 notes per second then just give up, because you simply arn't good enough, put your guitar on ebay or something because you will never be as good as me'

exactly.
8,000,000,000 notes per second is pretty slow too.
double that and people start dying for no reason whatsoever
-
'kay, the first guy, that's impressive, if dull, but what's the thing with his boyfriend at the end??
the japanese guy, impressive too, especially that he's able to keep playing while experiencing some kind of seizure.
Adam Fulara, yeah, i've seen him before. i think he's amazing, but his facial gymnastics do make gary moore look almost sensible.
( i feel ratty for being so bitchy! but what the hell, i'm hung over)
on the adam fulara page there was a link to a young fella called zack kim. i don't know how to post a link, luddite that i am, but take a look for him. he does the same sort of thing, but with two paul gilbert ibanezes. finally, the answer to those "you can't play them all at once" whines we all experience!
-
Those JP clips where the best :-D
"i estimate that about 20,000 people will die at my gig tonight"

Kazuhito does look rather funny when he plays, and demonic in some ways. He's done the entire of Igor Stravinskis (spelling?) Firebird Suite, i've got movement 5, it's pretty insane aswell, especially since it's one guitar.

16ths at 140 isn't fast for shred. 16ths at 160 is the beginning of fast, IMO.

bah..
if you cant play 16th triplets at 180 you should ask your grandma to teach you how to play guitar!
-
I think the first guy is gay. He looks gay to me.
But damn he could play fast! It didnīt sound good but it sure was fast.
-
if you cant play 16th triplets at 180 you should ask your grandma to teach you how to play guitar!
I disagree - I could probably play 16th triplets at 180 if i practised it and trained to play fast, but I wouldn't want to...
There's nothing musical about playing fast, it's just annoying to listen to. I'd much rather play something (relatively) slow and bluesy or rocky or something.
Any fool can teach himself a scale and practise it religiously until he can play it at a million miles a second, but not everyone has the creativity to pick out the notes from that scale and use them in a context where people can actually hear the notes you're playing
-
'This rack actually controls the heat of the sun, i don't really use it, i don't see why i should have to'
'Welcome back guitar noobs!'
lol
-
Yeah, those JP videos are priceless! The Malmsteen vid isn't bad, either.

I think I took a more extreme example than necessary in my argument...
Playing fast does have its moments, and it can sound good in the right context - but it annoys me when people discount you as a guitarist because you can't play as fast as some other person. But lets face it, trying to play the blues in 16th triplets at 180 (to take Davey's example) just wouldn't work.
-
Ahh now i agree with you :-)
Yeah it's really annoying when musicians not just shreaders do that. Aslong as your playing music you love it shouldn't really matter what you can and can't do.
And yeah blues at 16th note triplets at 180 bpm would suck any soul and life it once had and spit it in the drain.
-

There's nothing more inherently musical in playing slow than playing fast. It's the context that's important. Altering your speed to play different phrases is just one way of adding dynamics to your playing. If you play constantly at a certain speed then your playing is lacking an important dynamic--probably the most straight-forward one to attain, since it only takes practice rather than any great creativity. </stating the obvious>
-
Searcher notice now I said sextuplets which means 6 notes per click, so this equals 14 notes a second which is pretty bloody fast, not many players can do that accurately. This is the speed which Jason Becker Sweeps Serrana at just for reference.
Cheers!

Yeah, that's what I meant...The statement was talking about people that only play fast, as we've seen so many times on youtube :drink:

Ah, right. Yeah, I didn't catch that when I read it last time. Oops! Guess I need more sleep.
-
I play classical guitar and I love that piece, I don't suppose anyone knows if there is a tab or sheet music of this?
-
Not sure, but if your looking for mega hard peices of music, try this one on for size :-P

-
WTF??
LMAO
good one man
-
^^ I'd love to hear that one!
-
I like the bit where it says "breath now"...Is that in case you're playing it so fast that you've forgotten that crucial part of life?
-
haha priceless!
-
I've also noticed "add bicycle" and "remove cattle from stage" in the notes as well...Who would play with cattle on stage?
EDIT: Just before the cattle are removed from stage, the penguins are released - looks like it was written to be played in a zoo...
-
It's soo funny, the closer you look the more you find.
Got it on a classical forum, when they were discussing the most difficult peices to play.
-
Is it supposed to be a joke, or is it a serious piece?
-
I'm 99% sure it's a joke, but then you never know, some classical musicians out there might be crazy enough to try and attempt a peice like this with a full orchestra.
-
 "Insert Peanuts"
-
Insert Peanuts is an obscure musical term for.....inserting peanuts. There is a similar one for melons but that tends to be in operatic pieces.
-
Personally I'm glad that Stock, aiken and Waterman are finally releasing sheet music
(I did spell sheet properly didn't I ?)
Rob...
-
Is that guy using two necks using some kind of fabric to mute the strings to get a classical sound?
-
Is that guy using two necks using some kind of fabric to mute the strings to get a classical sound?
Thats to dampen the strings so they don't 'ring' when released or touched.
Rob...

Who would play with cattle on stage?
Well I'll play with just about anything if you put a crisp Ģ50 note in my thong... :D
