I saw an ad for them in Guitar World. They are scary speakers! Can you imagine the weight of the cab! It'll be worth it though

I'm guessing what I heard about having a 100 watt amp and a 600watt cab will make your amp blow up was bullshitee, right?

Definitley. A 100 watt amp and 50 watt cab...not so good. A 600 watt cab would be no problem with a 100 wat amplifier driving it because the 600 watt rating of the cab refers to HOW MUCH input wattage it can handle; as in, from an amplifier.

Darn things cost more each than a half decent 4x12 cab though.

I had a Rivera 2x12 with them in and there was no way it could be moved by one person alone, and it was tough with two people

A 4 x12- think I'll pass on that

I think Jake E Lee used to use them too

But the true question is, did the tone make up for it?

More like "That's a lot of speaker magnet!"...

Imagine a cab with 4 of those suckers in... It'll fly in the face of any manual handling regulation ever written! ;)

Nah - swapped them out for a pair of Celestion Sidewinders
Similar in some ways and has a bit more of that British sound as well

We're talking guitar valve amps not PA! Clipped tranny amps can kill speakers, clipped valve amps sound great...

Seriously, though ---

My Rivera 4x12 weighs just over 100 lbs now. Would an extra 40 lbs really make a difference at this point?!! If the tone is worth it, I'm gonna do it.

I think I'll get 2 at first, throw em in my Marshall 2x12. If the tone is that good, I wanna get 2 more, throw em in the Rivera, and then get some hemp jobbies for my Marshall, or those Heritage thingies everyone is raving about.

I've just got a couple of Heritage G12H...they sound great, very late 60s. The standard G12H sounds a bit boxy by comparison.

EDIT: ben- if you're going for a 4x12 for them, you may want to budget for a forklift truck too...

That's for one, yes, but in the States you can get them for $250...bit heavy to ship though!

I want 4 of those in a closed cab with a couple of bass tubes. Hook it up to a big Engl amp and plug in my Warpig equipped guitar and play Suicide Messiah once again.

I wonder if people will lose control of their bowels.

aye, true. I assume they're for people who want absolutely no speaker breakup in their sound...

Being a US Resident and a UK Citizen am in pretty unique situation. But can tell ya 250 Dollars is still ALOT when taken in context.
I gotta wonder, although EVH have good rep. anyway, how much Signature Marketing is going on here again?

On a side note (and being in UK right now for first time for any length in years) Gibson's do not seem as costly here (compared with US) as was expecting/advised. Maybe indeed the price diff. barrier is getting less. Although with pound-dollar exchange right now gotta say buying US goods for Brits is almost like stealing them.

Well, after actually doing the math lol ....
4 of these will add significant weight to your rig, even if it's already butt heavy like mine is.

I'm still getting a set, though!!! PDT_008  :orcass:  :guitar4:  :idiot2:  :crazy2:

Right, so that's, erm....over 4 times the weight of my Celestion Century Vintage?

Don't quite see the appeal somehow!

Tip: put the cab on wheels and/or hire roadies.

I would love to have a amp stand that allows to raise your amp, tilt it, then retract it and wheel it around.
