Title: Anyone thinking of buying a Chinese guitar on ebay?
Post by: Tellboy on August 07, 2006, 07:00:10 PM
If any of you are thinking of biddng on one of the many (apparently appalling) Chinese copies on ebay here's a sample of the negative feedback you are likely to get if you cross the seller

... so if you're not looking for a "clap of the malice" I should keep your credit card in your pocket. (I suppose that could be the Chinese equivalent of the Shakespear saying "A pox on you"  :?  :? )

There are some hilarious descriptions on some of these guitars.

stop taking the mickey out of them. that "extramundane" gibson made in china is so obviously real, and only £5! bargain! And it will bring "good fortune and happiness and luck and wealth." but my favourite... SPLENDIFEROUS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/splendiferous-schwarze-E-Gitarren-electric-guitar_W0QQitemZ280013338620QQihZ018QQcategoryZ2384QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). but maybe I should get this one for its Larruping (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Original-elegant-larruping-guitar_W0QQitemZ280013342734QQihZ018QQcategoryZ2384QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) tone? but The seller assures me "purchasing the musical instrument of the slap-up, best quality." And all you lot should get some too because "It will bring you and your family happy and bless~!". hey maybe we should get some £5 pigs of war of the rare knuckle prick ups from the peoples republic of china. £180 postage.

I have spend many a happy second reading the descriptions- I would love to meet anyone who bought one and buy him/her a drink. Some of the pictures are amusing too.

there was one guy who bought a 'genuine goldtop' from one of those dodgy chinese sellers, just to see how bad it was

i think he sold it for about 30 quid after a bit

he did say in the description how shite it was, and that if anybody was going to smash it up, he demanded to be present :p

how many of you can use "clap of the malice" in everyday conversation?

there will be an award for most inventive, and inappropriate, use of the phrase, but you must provide independantly verified video evidence!

See I never buy my guitars from online, I always prefer to have a feel first.

Maybe someone should email him and ask "Look, I cant afford postage, but I can afford the flight to china, you wouldnt mind if I drop by and pay in cash? Sterling alright?"

And to think people complain about Korean licensed guitars.
