which single coil is th emost 'bell like'?
I assume they would be the Apaches...
any advice apreciated
-
You'd be right - get them, they're great :D
-
Hmmm
Wanna say Apache, but ... in the neck slot, I prefer the Irish Tour for a classic bell like Strat tone!!
-
realy TO...thats slightly suprising. Are you talking in terms of clean or slightly driven?
-
Both clean and with overdrive.
In the guitar I'm playing @ a gig tonight, it has an Irish Tour in the neck. It sounds wonderful!

I have ITs in the neck and middle of my Fender Strat and they sound fantastic!
To my ears they don't quite have that classic Strat 'bell like' tone (probably due to them beiing voiced slightly darker than Apaches?) but they do sounds awesome clean or overdriven :)

I would say Apaches too- they are the essential Strat tone that we Strat lovers go for. I have not tried Mother's Milks but I would imgaine they too would have classic tone.

Apache is very bell like and rounded, Mother's Milk is very woody and hollow, Sultans is smooth and glassy.
-
Right. I think the Sultans might sound most liek what im looking for. Im guessing their pretty representative of the Knopfler tone?
How do u reckon an apache neck, irish tour middle and sultan bridge would sit in a maple neck strat
