just thought id inform the lads of my new guitar...
some of you may remember it...
an ESP LTD MH-100... another forum member bought it a while ago and posted it up here... and i bought it off him the other day... sounds awesome.... its got a dimebucker installed at the moment.. but i might replace the stock neck pup with a BK when i get the cash...
anygay, heres a pic, tell me what ya think...
-
That's beautiful. Can I borrow it? :D
-
sure! ...
...
....
...
for a price....
....
.....
or a limb.....
(of my choice)
:D  :D
-
\m/
-
now that is one SLICK smiley!!! took me bloody ages to figure that one out... sweet....
-
im lost
nice guitar tho
-
with the smiley? its the RAWK hand sign... you know... little finger and index finger held out at an angle with two middle fingers held by ya thumb...
anyway... the guitar, people, THE GUITAR!
-
oh, i getcha
-
so tell me sambo, what happened to only needing one pickup :P
-
ha! well who knows, i might get rid of the neck pup and just get a tap fitted on the bridge one...you know what i figured out recently!??
play something on your neck pup with the tone all the way up... then if its liek a calibrated set or something... then if you play something on the bridge pup with the tone fairly down... it sounds almost identical...
so see- no need for two pups!
I WIN!
-
unless you want the sound of the neck with the tone all the way down
or if you want to change between them quickly
-
yer but the tone of the neck pup all the way down is useless pretty much!
and the quick changing is where the tap comes in... im sure you could somehow wire it to switch between those two sounds....
-
so what if you were after the parallel pickups sound?
-
BUGGER YOU!
my point is, two pickups isnt NECESSARY... cause lets face it, most people ARENT after the paralell pickup sound...
ok so one pickup isnt gonna get everything i admit, and youve proven your point in that, but im pretty sure one can cover most stuff for msot people generally speaking
-
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
:D
-
yer ok ok, but you see MY point yes?
-
yeh
you're wrong, but yeh
i just think that without both my pickups i wouldnt be able to get anywhere near the tones i do, as when i have both of them on, it has the bluesy-ness of the MQ with the bite of the BD, and that sounds great
but if that's your point of view then fine, i understand
-
haha!
god, i just personally dot think theres THAT much of a difference to warrant the necessity for two pups.... im not saying its a BAD thing or its WRONG to have two pups... but yer know.
i give up...
i remember why i stopped on here now. :P
-
nah, im jus windin you up, i get what you're saying
and tbh the only reason i have got 2 is cos i don't like the look of single pup guitars
-
lol goodgood, yer thats fair enough, i dont have a preference really... i dont even know why/how i started the whole one pickup thing
-
Unholy Sambo is back
-
-
did you check my clips at the off topic?
-
nope- clips of what? ill trundle over there now and check em out

Yah, i started guitar "BUSINESS" by playing Nirvana.
i learnt 4 songs, with some tips of various friends, and then i learnt all the nevermind album, by ear.
and then i started into metal
Thrash, Doom metal, some death.

-
LOLOLOL, yeh, i missed that, must still be half asleep

but your back on track now... yes: we are the kings of off-topic MWAHAHAHAHA like a group of Nordic Warriors raping and pillaging the spoils of a small Anglo-Saxon village... thats how id describe it...
but im knackered now so im off to sleep...
-

haha well do on three of mates guitars!!! but i guess it heavily depends on what pickups are installed...

well if you wanna lend me a few bob then ill be more than happy to start work straight away...
and just for the sake of it, i do like the colour it is at the moment... even though in reality its more green than the picture suggests.

-
haha, s'awesome, it really is... lemme try:
\m/ or \ m /
and Mr.James ive just checked that guitar out... lol i would do that but im a bit of a pyromaniac and would probably forget i was meant to STOP the flames at some point...
-
but it would be kool
-
yes a video of me torching my ESP would be great one for youtube put it that way...
-
hey but hope now that you got that ESP you still love and play ya LP Junior with the BKP, right?
-
oh yer course! they're for completely different purposes... and while for metal riffing the ESP slays the gibson there is simply no contest for any song requiring crunch or bite e.t.c...
-
Samboooooo!!!!! :D
-
:D ... *continues smiling at deg0ey while pointing at the shiny ESP next to him...*...
psssst- look! :D
-
I like it Mr Sam, a beautiful creature - watch my avatar (and maybe for a topic) detailing the beautifulness of my strat now that it has BK's and a black scratchplate :D
So how have you been mr sam, doing much of late?
Oooo and (as i couldn't be bothered to read all 4 pages) what BK's are you gonna put in the ESP when you have the cash?
-
hehe i wait with baited breath...
and as for the BK's... i dunno,... it has a bridge Dimebucker which there is no point replacing in a hurry... help me decide on a neck pup....
and as for doing stuff... just hanging with mates and doing band stuff really... you?
-
I've been playing teh hardcore strat with BK's, and trying to decide what recording device to buy :)
-
haha wickked.... what are you choosing between? ill help you decide that and you help decide on a pup...
-
Just noticed your new avatar deg0ey, it looks great with chrome covers!
-
yer- sweeet- looks nice with the ENGL too!

Nice guitar Sambo! How's it going?
Enjoy your new beasty!!
-
Welcome back Sam! :D The guitar looks pretty cool. I like blue-green guitars. And I'm glad to see that you're exploring the idea of a second pickup.
You know, one point in your favour is that the more pickups a guitar has, the more it costs to replace them. :?
-
Hey glad you got a new beastie to play with Sam it's not extreme enough as even an old man like me thinks it looks good ;)
rob...
-
cheers guys, and im good thanks johnny boy, and yourself?
and yes Mark thats a good point!
 lol rob

Have just returned from a week's holiday - great to see you back Sam and with a new guitar.
I see the 1 verses 2 pickup debate still rages. I think if a guitarist is happy with his sound it doesn't matter how many pickups he has. One of my favourite guitarists is Jeff Beck who has his own signature strat (3 pups obviously) but who got some amazing sounds out of his single pickup fender Esquire (which he gave to Seymour Duncan and which Fender has now produced 150 tribute 'relic' copies at around £9,000 each. Jeff used to turn the tone control (not the volume control) with his little finger whilst playing a note and it used to produce a weird wah wah effect. Here's the link to the one they have at Mansons in Exeter - http://www.mansons.co.uk/news.cfm?id=46&ref=rightmenu&CFID=923943&CFTOKEN=6384 - I've looked at it a few times but it's a tad expensive for me  )
I see your posts counter is back on senna pods again 8)
P.S. Good luck with your gig on the 2nd September
-

cheers mate,
and i totally agree with you about how if a guitarist is happy is doesnt really matter.
im gonna check out those guitars you speak of now.
-
just remember little sammy...
you got an asskicking due, cos you didnt show your ugly mug at the LGS.
-
oh REALLY davey boy... wotcha gonna do? eh? EHHHHHHH?

Glad to hear it Sam!
I'm fine thanks mate! I've just had a few days in Dorset with my new woman, who is a music teacher!
Next week I'm off to Germany for 'The Cannonball Bike Run' as the event photographer!
I've started a thread in The Dressing Room regarding it.
