hey guys, im planning to route a Dean Time Capsule V for a floyd rose, im just wondering how badly the tone will be affected, due to it being a v and having less wood anyway, is it worth doing or will the tone be ruined as opposed to losing a little? has anyone here done this to a v shaped guitar? cheers!

I have a few friends that play Vs with Floyd Rose or Kahler bridges. It will not 'kill your tone'.
I think that ppl who throw out blanket statements like 'Floyds kill your tone' either don't know what good tone is, know nothing about FR bridges, or are just being contentious.

...or all three....

I suspect that someone who wants to use a Floyd Rose probably also wants fairly high output pups, so a loss of tone really isn't going to be an issue.

or maybe are using cheapo licensed versions with base plates made from papier mache?

I fitted a floyd to a cheap Vee recently. It worked really well, suits the guitar a lot.

usually you'd be right, but i'm looking for a floyd loaded superstrat to put mississippi queens in, for swampy, bluesy, sci-fi guitar!
