Title: Rebel Yellllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Dave Simpson on August 13, 2006, 12:38:01 PM
Finally got my Rebel Yell set in my '75 Les Paul. Tim hits the nail on the head once again with his suggestion! I tried for a while to ignore his advice about trying the Rebel Yell, what the hell was I thinking! :?

I've heard people describe a Les Paul as having a throaty growl. Believe me, I've had a few Les Paul's in my life time but none that I would describe as throaty. That was until I installed the Rebel Yells. Hot damn! I was chugging away on a little B to open A riff watching my half stack bounce up and down off the floor in time to the riff. Quite a sight to see.

This is one serious pickup. Cleans up great. Super articulate notes. Warm but not woolly. Clear but not piercing. I'm in love!

Tim, you did it again my friend!

I 'm thinking more and more to give a set of RY to my LP Std. (I already have a set in a full-mahogany Ibanez).

I've found they just hit the middle of the road (vintage vs modern) perfectly.

I'm really torn between my next set of pickups now. Especially with all the rave reviews of the Rebel Yells and Holy Divers we've had in the last couple of months...But first I need a new guitar!

I LOVE the R.Y.'s in my Jackson V's, Korina and Mahogany neck-thru guitars. The R.Y.'s are fat, big and "growly" in these guitars.

But, I found the R.Y. to be a bit too warm in my old 1970 LPC.
I installed the Cold Sweat (ceramic) into the LPC instead, and that was it. The LPC sounds tighter and with a faster attack vs the R.Y.'s.
For LP std, the story seems to be another. I might get another pair of R.Y.'s into my '68 LP (converted form P-90's to 'buckers). So far a set of Tom Holmes is ok, but time will show. 8)

I think it's time Feline designs the perfect guitar companion for the RYs ...

I've already designed the perfect guitar for Rebel Yells, I'm just working on developing the skill to build it :(

I think the RY would be perfect in a new BC Rich Mockingbird Special X. (new import version of the SLP)

Another guitar to save up for.

I think the R.Y.'s will sound KILLER in any good quality V-shaped guitar with Korina and Mahogany body. 8)
