I thought you were good with photoshop?!?
-
meh, it's sunday
-
Its also the summer holidays, where every day is the same
-
cept its not cos i'm working literally 19 hours a day
-
:o :o sickening! I remember when I worked through my summer holidays last year, it was horrible.
Back on topic, I dont think that covered would look too good, unless they were the black covers.
-
well i was thinking of getting camo covers, as the colour of the guitar is sorta green-y brown-y colour, like on the pics in the gallery of the nailbombs
-
Pics of guitar!
-
kk, but its from my phone ....
-
Yeah camo or distressed might look pretty cool in that case.. not a fan of that colour to be honest though.
-
Black covers would probably look cool.
-
I'd be inclined to stick with the zebra...
Or, if you do go camo or black, that cream knob will have to go - otherwise there's no cream for it to match with and it'll stick out like a cream knob on a brown guitar :drink:
-
does anybody know if there are camo open coils????
then i could have camo zebra
-
As far as I know, the camo isn't an option on open coils :( ...and I don't think it would be the greatest idea if it was an option to get camo zebras. But, diff'rent strokes, I guess. I say go for cream open coils. For a very classy look, I would also say that nickel or possibly raw nickel would be be very nice. Black covered pickups would be excellent too. Really up to you in the end but, don't shy away from covered pickups from BKP...they're just as toneful, biting, and fierce (if you like them that way) as open coils.
-
How do you adjust the pickups when they are directly mounted?

You don't. Should be just right as it comes from the manufacturer. You can adjust in height if springs/foam are added below the pickups, but then you use the positive effect on tone by having the pickup screwed tight into the body.
On my MM Axis, I experimented with pickup heights but went back to screwing them all the way down which gives the best tone ...
-
 it's always the way: do something to change your tone and you usually end up going back (except BK's of course :P )
-
so what do you get on the single coils in a warpig HSS set then??

so what do you get on the single coils in a warpig HSS set then??
Trilogies probably...
-
yeh i figured that, i was thinking more of the fact that the warpig had a distressed finish, what would the single coil finish be????
-
Pretty sure you can get camo singles.
Edit - Yep: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=763
-
so if there are camo singles, wouldn't that mean there are camo open coils????
just an observation
-
...I'd stick with the zebras too.
:D

No...Humbucker Bobbins aren't the same as Single Coil Covers :drink:
-
piss

Make sure you have clearance for the covers. I tried to put a pair of Miracle Man's on my Hamer Sunburst and didn't have enought room in the cavities for the covers.

Come to think of it, it was a tight squeeze in my strat too - and I had to cut the height adjustment screws, as it wasn't routed deep enough (they're hella long!)
-
so if camo open coils aren't an option, what is??
i know there are varying colours, ie purple, black, cream etc.
but are there aged or battle-worn open coils???
-
I suppose you could age an open coil but you're more likely to damage it unless the ageing is done before the winding. If the bobbins are scuffed with a file to emulate being hit by picks and strings over time, then maybe rubbed over with wire wool (definately before being wound!) and then the pole pieces and slugs could be aged. Thats exactly how my Jackson JC-90 looks, naturally
-
I reckon camo covers would look good on it. I also think an aged or distressed cover, would look good too.
