I've bought a UX2 and it rocks but I have a problem with it I cannot solve. I'd be grateful for some advice. :)
I use Cubase for recording. I set the UX2 as the main ASIO driver (replacing the PC's Soundblaster card) and assigned Input and Output busses to the device on the VST Contacts panel. Guitar recording is OK - I simply launch GearBox and set up an Audio Track in Cubase with the right Input and Output. But when I set up a MIDI track for Kontakt (a sampler), the Input to the track is my MIDI keyboard and the output is Kontakt itself. Without Cubase, Kontakt does produce a sound as I changed its settings so that it uses the UX2 as its soundcard. However, when Cubase is running as its host, I can't hear anything - there's no signal coming from the headphone out or the line outs of the device even though Cubase does receive a signal from Kontakt. :?

Hi Peter,
Is the midi through set in midi set up in Cubase? That's all I can think of in my limited knowledge. :)

Cheers. I've checked it - yes, it's enabled.
BTW, I have rewired my monitoring setup and set the UX2 to default soundcard in Windows (don't use the stock soundcard anymore) and checked the settings again but still no sound with VST Instruments. Kontakt does work outside Cubase but not with Cubase as its host. :(

^ Well based on that it's either Cubase or the signal routing in your soundcards virtual mixer......... Maybe!
It's got to be in the Midi settings in cubase. Can you go to the samplers webite or forum and seek there? PDF manual in the CD Rom?
Try a list of trial and error in the midi settings but undo each setting back to the original if it doesn't work!
I'd love to help more Peter, I know what it's like and I feel your pain!

Thanks!
I couldn't find the source of the problem so I uninstalled every audio device but the Toneport, then removed and reinstalled everything I use for recording. :P Now the samplers seem to work, although I need to use a DirectX Full Duplex driver for ASIO, which has an output latency of 46 ms (that's too much - I need 2 to 5 ms...). The softwares simply fail to open the Toneport UX2's ASIO driver... :? I think I'll reinstall the Toneport and see if that helps.
