Has anyone tried one of these?

I was thinking of trying it in front of my Line6 PodXT Live to help fill out the tone, but the XTL has a Pad switch for the input so is that kind of the same thing?

It alters the load on the pickups, making them sound either smoother or brighter. Don't know if it'll work with a POD but it worked with a radio system.
