I am checking amps again. I have a JCM 800 2203 with a ZW-44 in front of it. Does metal great, does ACDC on 'roids great also. But tough getting lot of versatilitiy. Also like the modded brown VH/Lynch sound as well as Zakk, and Angus.
Considering DSL 50, Bogner Shiva (don't know much abuot this one. But seems highly regarded), and just found out about Randall MTS sems very cool. But is it a gimmick or actual cool tone machine?
Then again I could mod my JCM but don't know anyeon in L.A.

Have you tried a Laney GH50L? I use one in my AC/DC tribute band and it does the cleaner side of stuff great, plus with the extra footswitchable tube does hihg gain stuff as well. I sold my Marshall for it and I'll never go back.

Dude, if you live in LA, you should give the Bogner guys a call.

They are in North Hollywood and are very nice guys.
Reinhold Bogner has started with modding Marshalls, I'm sure he can either get your JCM800 to scream or give you some nice new amp (Shiva, Ueberschall, XTC). I think you will like the Shiva coming from a JCM800.
Being from the US, you also have the great opportunity to test a Splawn, they might be right for you http://www.splawnguitars.com

Yeah I was looknig at Splawn also as well as modding my JCM Voodoo style.

Hands down, Laney VH100R. It's like a Marshall, Fender and more all in one. Fender cleans, Marshall growl (with less fizz) and super smooth/clear lead tone.

There is no way that the Laney can compete with the Splawn when it comes to tone. I'm not saying it's not a decent amp, because it is. But for a US resident, the Splawn is a no-brainer.

i'd go for the quick rod if i was in the states and had the money..
since i dont have that kind of money and dont live in the states, i'm buying a GH50L
