Title: Bare Knuckle equivalent to the Dimebucker.

seriously, though, the dimebucker is ceramic, so I'm guessing (though wait till some of the more knowledgeable guys chip in) either the miracle man, cold sweat or (ceramic) warpig might be what you'd want for that kind of tone. No idea which though.

I'd imagine the closest BKP would be the Nailbomb.

Post by: dave_mc on August 21, 2006, 05:25:07 PM: I dunno if the DB is bright. there's a brightness to it (probably too bright), but there's a muddiness to the lows as well. I really didn't like it.

is a very transparent pickup ... and that's what Dime used
to record most of his work :D

i believe the DC resistance is around 11 :)

Post by: JJretroTONEGOD on August 23, 2006, 08:36:20 PM: I think the Nailbombs would definitley do the job for a Darrel Dimebag sound. But it's all about the guitar technique over anything. If you play poor, better pickups only further empahsise this. and likewise when you play very well. that's my advice ; )

Nailbomb has way too much mids due the alnico magnet, miracle man fits the bill a lot better.

There was nothing really that musical about his guitar sound, it was just noise - but noise that sounded good :lol: It worked in the context of Pantera, but not a sound I'd want to replicate tbh...

Post by: chrisola on August 24, 2006, 08:39:36 AM: i changed my Dimebucker for a ceramic warpig... the Warpig is definitely more focused and toney... the Dime seemed to have more gain and was pretty trashy sounding..not a bad pickup, just highly specialised (as you would expect)

The guys from Kalmah use them and in Trivium, and i like those tones.

(UN)Interesting point: there have been huge arguments over 'which is best' and 'which did Dime use'..

Turns out (i'll find the link again if anyone REALLY wants to see it) at a guitar clinic in 93 as Dime is talking about his guitar, someone asks 'where did you get the Bill Lawrence from?' and dime replies 'STEW MAC DUDE'

Thus putting the endless Becky\Bill 'handmade' vs Stew Mac 'copy mass produced cr@p' for Dime tones debate to rest..ahh those poor HC form peeps :lol:

aye, but then you could get into the "does dime have good tone?" argument, lol.

Good point, though. though, being dime, he did tend to endorse everything, it's possible he went with the stewmac ones to get more royalties or something (dunno, I'm just throwing it out there, it's not a fact or anything)...
