Hi all,
Although I had posted many clips by my BlackDogged Epiphone before, some asked to hear clips from the Bogner.
I don't have an SM57 or outboard compressors and the extreme dynamics of the Siva make it difficult to record, I also couldn't crank it. So this shows maybe only 50% of the harmonic richness of the real tone being there in the room. Especially the extreme 3D-ness of the cleans doesn't come across very well.
Still gives an idea of what kind of tone the BDs and the Bogner do.
-
If thats only 50% of what its capable of then it must sound perfect actually playing it! This clip is much better than the ones on the Bogner site imho.

Thanks man, but there's a simple reason: Those dudes in California haven't heard of BareKnuckles yet, that's why :D

Hmmmm :)
-
I love the Bogner sound! Woody and rich, especially with the Black Dogs. Nice! 8)
-
I like the RMC3 wha, I also use it, it rips through anything! nice clips and pictures
-
Loved it-as Tom says, if that is 50% of what you actually hear, it must be great. T'would be great for swampy blues and slide.
-
Here's another one, floyd inspired clip. Pity I can't turn it up. This was recorded at conversation level in order not to wake up my gf over in the bedroom :)
Finally got an SM57, but need to wait for an occasion to crank the bogey to provide some more authentic clips.

This is same setting as before (too low master to sound awesome but already nice) I play around with the guitar volume to show how nicely the black dogs clean up - this would be even more impressive at a decent amp level as dynamics kick in more.
So no sound switching here, this is Shiva Ch2 with boost on and a guitar's volume poti.

It's simply.... huge!

Hi cool clip I take it that amp isn't cheap :)
On the dirty part how much gain are you using?
-
No that amp isn't cheap. It's roundabout 2,200 EUR the head without Reverb. Reverb is 380 EUR and is switchable and amount can be adjusted by channel. Combo is another few hundred bucks.
But this might be the last amp of my life, so worth the money.
By the way, there are amps that easily cost twice its price. There are even people that pay that kind of money for a night in a hotel :D
The gain is around 3/4 on the dirty channel. It's not a high gain/metal amp, but it can do well RATM or Early Metallica well.
Basically Ch1 gives you a most awesome super responsive and gnarly Blackface-ish tone, Ch2 gives you the best of Marshall with a 60s voice but more gain and body.
None of the other amps I tested had close as much tone. I used to dig my Engl Screamer (and still do as it plays so easy) but if you A/B the Engl and the Bogner, it's like the Engl is in a different room, so much less present and authoritative it sounds.
You do get more features from other manufacturers at this price tag (e.g. Diezel VH4 is just 500 EUR more than the Shiva Reverb model), but you won't get more tone. And then also the more elements you have on an amp, the more you need to manage, which can be annoying esp. live ...

Hey Christoph!
The clip sounds great. I can't seem to get used to LP's, but I really like the sound of them through the Shiva and the Ecstasy.
Nice work!

Gotta be about time you order some RebelYells and spread the news in CA, so the guys there can learn a bit about what Europe has to offer ...
Thanks again for providing your great advise and recommendations while I was amp hunting !!

Thanks Christoph. Hey, where are the famous people at, I want to see!!!!???!!!
I'd love to try out some pups, but I'm a bit of a tight arse right now, so it's going to have to wait. I really like the clarity in your clip though, so perhaps once I have some cashola, I can pickup a set of these pups and drop them into one of my Vigiers.
It was my pleasure chatting tone with you via e-mail.
