Very nice, I love it when he lets loose!

Writing playing and performing on any instrument is just too easy for that guy.

I've endured listening to alot of self-indulgent albums to get to these nuggets of gold.

Judicious use of an octave-down pedal, not so much that you can "hear" it distinctly, but to add weight to the sound. Thin strings and very thin picks. No compression. it helps if you have a old hohner Tele Copy, although I understand prince has ALL of them.

After that I'd guess maybe a Marshall JCM 800 would get you in the ballpark, with a short delay (sub 50ms) add gobbets of reverb....

I always thought he was totally underrated. His bass playing is pretty top too oh yeah and so is his drumming, keyboards....and he always is surrounded by gorgeous women. Barsteward.

hahah I didnt think Prince would actually have a good song after hearing some of his tracks but this ones pretty good actually.. what are some other ones by Prince which arent gay? Oh yeah nice tone as well :)

saw him on the Gold Experience tour sometime in the mid '90s, and yes, he was phenomenal!!  that was when he was in his big guitar period too so he did a lot of rockier versions of older songs.

Not a fan, but Prince can really write a cracking tune as well as play tasteful guitar... A serious musician.

that song, in live form rules, but on the album, the guitars are mixed WAY too low..

IMO, it's also the best song off the album

yea.. that video dissapears quite fast, every time it is posted on there.. no idea why
