Hey there guys, I'm pretty sure that I want a set of Nailbombs but I'd probably be making a much more informed choice with some imput.
I'm getting a new les paul in a few days time and naturally looking for some new pickups to replace the SD's that come stock with it. I'm looking for a modern distortion tone with thick lower midrange and screaming pinch harmonics. Is the nailbomb what I'm looking for? The guitar will probably be tuned to drop-d most of the time with some work in standard.
Any imput is greatly appreciated and if I havn't described the tone I want clear enough give some pointers on how I can make it clearer. I can't think of any tones that I'm really aiming for it is probably a cross between BLS's Demise of sanity and something that has that 'high gain twang' on the low e string if anyone has any clue what I mean by that? I can get a really nice tone with my Anderson H3 and I would buy another but I have enough for some nice BKPs and fancied something different! I'll be buying a set (probably matching calebrated) so it is bridge and neck pu's.
Thanks!

what you're describing is the Miracle Man dead-on. It's voiced for a les paul too..

See I always thought it was more of a older voiced pickup, more of an 80's vibe? I quite like Zakks tone in miracle man, but Im looking for a tone that seems more 'modern' with more grunt and a lower midrange than on the Ozzy stuff as its usually upper midrange stuff?

lower midrange is what the Warpig does - the Miracle Man will go there too with a bit of coaxing from an EQ pedal.

Now I'm even more confused than before :(

I say Warpig, though a Miracle Man would do it i would think.
I don't think you want a Nailbomb though.

Warpig might be too thick in a Les Paul. I'd go Nailbomb.

In my Charvel the Nailbomb is very much UPPER mid balanced and not particularly thick in the low end, of course that may be different in an LP. For what you're describing I'd go Miracle Man.
