Title: who said this? any guesses?
Post by: LiamH on September 07, 2006, 10:06:43 PM
"A lot of players don't even listen to other instruments—they get so wrapped up in the guitar. I know that to be true, because of the amount of guitar players that I know that are like that. Sometimes, they don't hear the music, they only hear the sounds."

Someone really cr@p at guitar who is trying to direct all the attention to the other instruments so that people don't realise that they are so cr@p?

Perhaps Kirk Hammet lol! That wah is not pretty!

Allan Holdsworth is from Bradford.. which is like 3 miles from my house, nice to have the worlds best guitarist come from a local area..

and of course Holdsworth listens to other instruments, how much does his playing sound like a Sax player anyway? thats why he's so $%&#ing good!

Damn....he is good!!

He has a funny guitar though, the ones without the headstock, Steinburger or something, they make me laugh!

He would be better doing metal though. :P

Another player who is very talented but who i feel missed a great opportunity to be a rock god was  Shaun Baxter

Backin mid 80s he looked the part and his playing was totally rocking, but then he got Jazz and regular rock no longer held his attention enough to do it every day

Bradistan they call it, yea they had race riots there a while back. Its a bit of a dive, they get good gigs tho for some reason and its got a really good metal scene. I definately find people up north more genuine than their southern counterparts (mass generalisation)

lol - gang wars

Someone's been reading too much of the Daily Mail....

There's always been a certain amount of racial tension in Bradford under the surface, particuarly during the years 1995-2001, but it seems pretty subdued now. I'd agree that people do seem in general a lot more genuine here, not too sure about having a good metal scene though, lol. Depends on what you classify as "good". One of my best friends is in a popular Power Metal band up here, and I've been recording their demo which is actually really quality material.

Yup - head office is right near my house I think, my mum used to work there. Maybe I should merger with it when I finally get building some guitars, now that's a thought....  8)

Had a master class with Shawn Baxter, he runs the course i was on, phenominal guitar player, although his "Jazz Metal" compostions were a little hard to listen to.

He has a very orgnaised approach to practising and improvising.
