Title: Can any recommend a mega MIDI interface?
Post by: Johnny Mac on September 11, 2006, 10:58:55 PM
The custom guitar Feline is making me is having a Ghost modular pickup bridge and I was wondering which MIDI guitar interface to go for. E.G Roland V-88 or is it VG-88? Are there any others on the market that are worth checking out?

I have a Roland Ready Strat/VG-88/GR-30/FC-200 setup; probably the most insane out-of-the-box guitar synth setup you can get. The newest version of the synth is the GR-33. (I got mine in '02, I think)

What are you looking to do, exactly? Modelling, or synth work?

The VG-88 is the Jaguar of modellers. The new expaned MIDI controller for the VG-88 is the GFC-50.

If you're doing synth work, either a GR-33/FC-200 combo, or a GI-20 and the rack mounted sound module of your choice.

If you're going to get and use both, you will need a GKP-4 or US-20, as well, to make your life easier.

NOTE 1: My MIDI setup takes up about 6' of floor space! These devices are HUGE!

NOTE 2: 13 pin cables are very delicate! My 13 pin cables die on me about twice per year, although they often get thrown into duffel bags and carried out to gigs. Don't expect them to last a lifetime, however; they won't.

Woah! Thanks for all that Ben! I'll shall get into the websites and have a good read.

I want to do lots of noises and instruments, samples the whole wacked out freaky thing so no one know's what the f*ck is going on! Yeah some modellers would be good too!  :D

Since reading the Cubase manual or half of it my imagination is running riot!

Feline are putting a Ghost Modular MIDI/Acoustic pick up in the custom guitar I've ordered!  8)

EDIT opps all ready mentioned that! Right time to get out of here and all the emails and eat some Spinnach!
